A couple of hours later, Xu and Quynh returned to their car, waving off Fulcrum and his truck full of salvaged Usonan tech.
They returned to Tavas to give closure to the village, explaining what they could of the wreck to Chief Ruho but leaving the Siveron agents out of the story.
Chief Ruho, to their surprise, correctly guessed the purpose of the craft even though both Quynh and Xu did their best to sound ignorant. It made sense he would, given how the Usonan Embassy crisis had gripped the nation's attention for the last year, but it also reminded Xu not to underestimate Aviyans who lived in the Kingdom.
The whole village was waiting for them as they left the common house, Quynh trying to calmly reassure everyone who spoke to her.
They barely made it to their car when Chief Ruho's voice drew their attention.
