Rui fell hard through a construction site near the heart of downtown.
By the time she hit the ground, she'd already donned her full armor and kicked off the bastard that tackled her, only to wind up going through a concrete floor and landing in a pile of unused bamboo and warning signs.
She swore as she got up.
Getting ambushed was not how she thought her night would go after all that had happened.
"Great. Just-" Something clinked next to Rui. She had a second to see that it was a flash-bang grenade before it exploded.
The sudden, blinding light stunned her more than the sound, but she felt her ears burning all the same as her eardrums started healing.
