Two weeks before the end of the selection, Rui was riding high on the prospect of actually starting the tournament.
By now, the group was down to the last six candidates. It wasn't just the sparring matches that eliminated them. Some had family emergencies. Some, mostly First Ascendant members, decided to join the Second Ascendant Battalion thanks to the generous bonuses being offered for cultivators. Many also wanted to accelerate their careers, which Rui could respect.
