The Army had established quite the headquarters in the Capital. The circular complex was flanked on all sides by a circular lake, with a large square in the middle, where a park had been planted. There was a small gazebo in the center of the park, it was there that Xu sat with General Suleika and Colonel Riel.
"Major Xu, would you like a drink?" General Suleika asked. On her left was a teapot and a bottle of plum wine.
"Just tea, ma'am," Xu said respectfully, allowing the General to pour her a cup. It went untouched as she waited for it to cool.
"Don't be so stiff, Xiaodan," Colonel Riel said. "You earned your promotion. You can ask for something stronger if you like."
"I appreciate the offer, Colonel." Xu did not want anything stronger, so she simply waited.
