Chereads / The Time Elemental / Chapter 2 - Prologue 2

Chapter 2 - Prologue 2

Bilanda remained calm. For a few seconds, nobody moved and they stared at each other. He analyzed the situation without showing any emotion. A small gap formed between the men and they split into two groups of three.

Bilanda didn't want his house to be destroyed by their fight. He erected a barrier behind him and to his left, where his daughter's room was located, though a bit farther from their current position.

As if on cue, both sides attacked each other at the same time.

While flying towards them, he assessed them based on their energy signature and their display.

'A strength type, a fire elemental, a shifter, a wood elemental, a thunder elemental and even a creationist. Well well, I have to finish this fast.'

The strength type elemental, who had a three-meter tall body with a bulky musculature, let out a loud roar while throwing rapid punches at Bilanda furiously. Bilanda nonchalantly raised his left hand and erected an invisible barrier that his challenger soon noticed by the sound and the small vibrations.

With his right hand, he made a crushing gesture in the direction of the shifter who had transformed into a four-meter tall creature that Bilanda didn't have time to identify.

The space around the shifter started to shrink like a metal can being crushed, except this time it was his bones being compressed. He groaned, struggling to free himself from this predicament.

Bilanda soon noticed that roots and vines were growing at an alarming rate under him, trying to entangle his legs. He ignored them and focused on the fire elemental who launched two massive fireballs at him.

Before they even reached him, the heat emanating from them was already cracking up the corridor's wall where they were having their fight. In a split second, he stopped his crushing gesture with his right hand and drew two dimensional holes: one in the path of the fireballs and the other just on top of the shifter who was trying to recover from his bones being crushed.

Markus, the shifter, didn't even have time to yell. He saw death coming to embrace him through the fireballs of his own ally. The fireballs came out of the gate that materialized out of thin air above his head and scorched him instantly, releasing a burnt scent of meat.

Simultaneously, he made a cutting gesture with his free right hand towards the bulky three-meter muscle man in front of him who was threatening to break his barrier.

The latter didn't even see what killed him. He witnessed with his own eyes, from a high point of view, his body falling headless.

All these events happened in the span of a minute. Tenko, the wood elemental who was trying to entangle Bilanda with his roots and vines, shouted

"NOOOO, HENRY!!!"

He noticed that Bilanda was protected by some sort of invisible cocoon and all his attempts ended in failure.

He thought to himself, 'Where is Quentin? The fight didn't even last a minute and we already have two casualties. We detached ourselves from the rest but I doubt they're faring better.

We knew he was a very powerful guy but this level of power is way too much. We are grandmasters for f*ck's sake and he's killing us like newbies.'

He jumped backwards to stand beside Steven who had his eyes closed and was preparing to attack. Electrical sparks were dancing in the air around them. A bluish halo was covering Steven and when he opened his eyes, Tenko saw that they were also emitting a bluish light. He looked like a thunder god.

Going at a speed faster than light, lightning the size of a tree trunk struck Bilanda at the second it was formed, blowing his invisible space barrier into smithereens and blasting him away. Steven rose into the air with his hands outstretched and without giving Bilanda a second of respite, he continued his attack.

Lightning bolts the size of anaconda snakes blasted continuously onto him to the point that a big crater was formed where Bilanda was blasted. It wasn't possible to see his fate as dust was raised which rendered visibility null.

The creationist whose ability was to materialize anything of his imagination based on elemental energy finally had a window of opportunity to act. A massive hammer came knocking down repeatedly on the crater, generating a tremor that brought down what was left of the remaining standing walls of the large corridor.

For a moment, everything was calm. The four remaining warriors were wondering if they had him at last.

The dust cleared up and Bilanda stood there silently. His outfits were tattered, revealing parts of his body with small red bruises. He thought, 'I'm wasting time. If I can't finish them fast enough, Gary will leave. Nobody is coming. Where are my men? Are they all dead? These aren't the only ones then. They probably split up… and Emily… hmm.'

With a quick flick of his wrist, he unleashed three blades of spacial distortion that sliced through the air. The fireball man tried to dodge, but it was too late. He felt a searing pain in his chest as one of the blades cut him open. Blood spurted out of his wound and stained the ground.

Before the other two could react, he vanished from sight and reappeared behind the thunder elemental. He grabbed his neck with a firm grip and whispered in his ear.

"Enough." Bilanda heard a deep calm voice. He looked up and saw Quentin standing there. He felt a chill down his spine.

"I've lost enough of my men tonight. Any more and I'll have to get angry. And you know what happens when I get angry, Onana. Let's talk." Quentin said with a cold smile.
