Chapter 15 - Parties and Cups

Carryl's P.O.V

The party was well underway by the time I got there. Pop music was blaring out of a modern mansion that was mostly glass. All the rooms visible from outside were filled with gyrating young adults. I jumped out of the way as a two girls rushed past me one of them vomiting on the manicured grass while the other one helped by holding her hair. I felt my phone vibrate an honest miracle given that the very air around me was vibrating from the loud music. Thier nearest neighbor was a long distance off, but I was pretty sure they could hear the music if they were outside.

Sam walked outside, phone held to his ear. He was the one calling me. I disconnected the call and waved my arms to attract his attention while moving towards the door where he stood. His face lit up the moment he saw me, his glazed eyes roamed over me as he staggered for the few steps it took to get to me. He clearly had more than enough drinks. Gregory appeared behind him, a murderous look on his face. He made a move to grab him but stopped when he saw me the look on his face softening. I waved to him but dropped my hands quickly, stopping Sam from falling flat on his face. Gregory was next to us in seconds.

"He has been singing your name from the moment he got here. He started shouting the moment he got tipsy. All our friends have been dying to meet you."

He took Sam from me and motioned for me to follow him inside. I followed him inside, past the deafening music and drunk people to a relatively organized corner. Organisation in this context involved unconscious drunks who had clocked out for the evening. I took a seat next to a passed out girl in the varsity's cheerleading outfit squishing myself against the chair careful not to disturb her. Sam was out the moment his ass hit the chair or maybe a few seconds before. His entire body slumped on the chair his head lolling to the side.

George took a step back truly dumbfounded at how quickly Sam passed out. He ran his hands through his kinky afro, letting out a frustrated sigh. He turned to me and opened his mouth to speak but got interrupted by a man jumping Infront of me. I jumped back in the seat startled by the new comer, that was until i caught sight of the intruder. It was the breathtaking stranger I had bumped into some time back. His, was a face not easily forgotten. He had a massive grin which lit up his already bright face, the guy was drunk and could barely stand but he still looked like he belonged on the cover of a magazine.

" Heeeey....beautiful strander...strager...stre..strangeeee... hey you!"

I laughed at his drunken state that seemed to stump his ability to concoct words. He laughed an deep airy sound that rang all the right bells even though the context was somewhat immoral. Gregory stopped him from falling onto me as he lost his balance laughing. He helped him to the beanbag right next to me before turning his attention to his boyfriend. I could see the battle on his face as he debated between going back to his friends and ensuring his boyfriend's safety.

"Don't worry I am as sober as they come. You can join your friends for an hour. I cannot guarantee that I will still be sober after that.

"Thanks Carryl...I owe you one. As long as he is asleep he will be fine."

Gregory gave me a stunning smile before promptly disappearing into the crowd. I turned to the stranger but he was no where to be seen. I took a sip of the alcohol in my cup and resisted the urge to spit as the liquid burned its way into my stomach after numbing my tounge. It was pure tequila. No wonder Sam was passed out like that. I took another molten sip and realised an hour might have been too long. I was most definitely going to wasted before the hour was up. I felt warmth from the liquid spread through my body easing nerves I had not been aware of. I leaned back into the chair not quite ready to mingle. I spotted the stranger coming down the stairs. He was no longer struggling to walk and seemed a whole lot better than before. His face and hair were wet, the water dripping onto his shirt.

He plopped down on the beanbag closing his eyes briefly most likely to steady his vision. When he opened them I was once again taken in by the brilliant shards of gold swimming in his brown eyes. He smilled sheepishly running his fingers through his wet hair slicking them back exposing his phenomenal features. The guy had to be a model or something similar. It would be unfair to the world otherwise.

"My name is Jackson. It's a genuine pleasure to met you." Even softened his deep voice still caused tremors in the pits of my stomach.

"My name is Carryl and believe me the pleasure is all mine. Do you go here?"

"I do...my face is literally on the gate."

"You mean the A.I image at the entrance?" when he nodded I whipped out my phone determined to call him out on his lie.

I had seen the banner. Everyone who entered the University's gate had to. I dismissed the burner the first time I saw it. I couldn't understand why they would put an unrealistic photo for freshman admissions. No one looked like that. I finally found the image and zoomed it closer. While there was no denying the appeal Jacksons held. However, his face with make up on was unearthly. Him walking around with his bare face was honestly mercy on his part. If he went around with full makeup on his face the earth would be forced to stop spinning around the sun and use him as a center. I tipped the contents of my half filled cup and instantly regretted the sensory overload from consuming all that tequila at once. I did not even try to keep a straight face as i stuck my tounge out fanning the abused appendage. I turned to Jackson who seemed to be raptured by said tongue causing me to halt mid fanning. I could have sworn time stopped as he slowly gravitated towards me, his eyes never leaving my tounge.

" It's time to party bitches!" Sam shouted at the top of his lungs seemingly resurrected. The house full of drunk people cheered as the playlist turned from pop to hip hop. Sam spotted me and pulled me up to my feet and dragged me to the dance floor. I stole a glance at Jackson but once again he was nowhere to be seen.
