Chapter 21 - "Good afternoon, miss. My Name is John

The day was hot, the sun shining brightly in the clear sky. Mia was sitting on the porch, sipping her iced tea while reading her favorite book. She had been feeling lonely lately, and the peace and quiet of the countryside seemed to calm her down.

Suddenly, she heard a car approaching. She looked up and saw a black SUV turning into her driveway. Mia was surprised, she rarely had visitors, and she didn't recognize the car. A man in a suit stepped out of the car and walked towards her.

"Good afternoon, miss. My name is John, and I'm here to speak with you about an urgent matter," he said in a polite tone.

Mia was taken aback by the stranger's appearance and his abruptness. "What matter?" she asked.

"I'm afraid I can't discuss it here, miss. May I come in?"

Mia hesitated for a moment but then nodded her head. She led the man into the living room and offered him a seat.

John sat down and began to speak. "Miss, I'm an attorney representing your late aunt's estate. It seems that she has left you a substantial sum of money."

Mia was shocked to hear the news. She had no idea that her aunt had left her anything. She listened as John explained the details of her aunt's will and the inheritance that she had left to her.

"Miss, you are entitled to a sum of ten million dollars. However, there is one condition that you must fulfill before you can receive the money. Your aunt has stipulated in her will that you must be married within the next six months," John explained.

Mia was taken aback by the condition. She had never been married, and she had no intention of getting married just to receive the money. She thanked John for his time and asked him to leave.

Mia sat alone in her living room, deep in thought. She knew that she couldn't force herself to marry just for the sake of money. She wanted to find love and marry someone for the right reasons.

As she sat there, she remembered her childhood friend, David. They had grown up together, and they had been close. They had lost touch over the years, but Mia knew that he was still living in the same town. She wondered if he was still single.

Mia decided to call David and invite him to dinner. She needed to talk to him about something important.

David arrived at Mia's house later that evening. They hugged each other and chatted about old times. Mia prepared a delicious dinner, and they enjoyed the food and each other's company.

After dinner, Mia told David about the inheritance and the condition in her aunt's will. She explained how she didn't want to marry someone just for the money and how she wanted to find love.

David listened to her carefully, and he knew that he could help her. He had been secretly in love with her for years, and he knew that he could make her happy.

"Mia, I know we haven't seen each other in a long time, but I want you to know that I've always had feelings for you. I want to marry you, not for the money, but because I love you," David said.

Mia was surprised to hear David's confession. She had never thought of him in that way, but she realized that she had feelings for him too.

"David, I had no idea. I've been so focused on finding love for the right reasons that I didn't even see what was right in front of me. I love you too," Mia said.

David and Mia hugged each other, and Mia knew that she had found the love that she had been looking for. She knew that her aunt would be happy to

After their long walk through the woods, Emily and Jack finally reached a clearing where they could see the house in the distance. The sun was starting to set, casting a warm orange glow over everything.

As they got closer, they noticed that there was someone sitting on the front porch. It was a woman, with long dark hair and a flowing dress. She looked up as they approached, and Emily could see that her eyes were a bright green.

"Hello there," the woman said, smiling warmly. "I'm Selene. I take it you're the new guests that Harold mentioned?"

Emily and Jack nodded, introducing themselves. Selene stood up, gesturing for them to follow her inside.

As they entered the house, Emily was struck by how beautiful it was. The walls were covered in intricate tapestries, and there were flowers everywhere. It smelled of lavender and fresh bread.

"This is a lovely home," Emily said, looking around.

"Thank you," Selene replied. "I take great pride in keeping it beautiful."

They walked into a cozy living room, where a fire was already burning in the fireplace. Selene offered them both a seat, and then disappeared into the kitchen.

A few moments later, she returned with a tray of tea and homemade scones. Emily and Jack thanked her, and then sipped their tea as they chatted.

After a few minutes, Emily couldn't help but ask, "So, Selene, what do you do around here?"

Selene smiled mysteriously. "I take care of things," she said simply.

Emily and Jack exchanged a glance, but didn't press the matter. They spent the rest of the evening talking and laughing with Selene, feeling completely at ease in her presence.

As the night wore on, they bid her goodnight and retired to their rooms. Emily was grateful for the comfortable bed and fluffy pillows, and fell asleep almost immediately.

The next morning, Emily and Jack woke up early and decided to explore the woods some more. They set off in a different direction than the day before, and soon found themselves near a small stream.

They followed the stream for a while, enjoying the peaceful sound of the water and the rustling of the leaves. Eventually, they came to a small waterfall, and Emily couldn't help but gasp at its beauty.

"It's incredible," she said, marveling at the shimmering water.

Jack smiled at her, taking her hand. "Come on," he said. "Let's get closer."

They walked down to the base of the waterfall, feeling the cool mist on their faces. Emily closed her eyes, taking in the sensation.

As she opened them again, she saw something glinting in the water. Curious, she waded in and picked it up. It was a small, intricately carved stone, with strange symbols etched into its surface.

"Jack, look at this," she called out.

Jack waded over to her, taking the stone in his hands. "What do you think it means?" he asked.

Emily shrugged. "I have no idea," she said. "But it's beautiful."

They continued their walk, the stone tucked safely in Emily's pocket. As they made their way back to the house, Emily couldn't shake the feeling that something strange was going on. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she felt like there was more to Selene and Harold than they were letting on.

But for now, she decided to push those thoughts aside and enjoy the rest of their stay. After all, they were on vacation, and she didn't want anything to spoil it.

The sun was setting over the ocean, casting a golden glow over the beach. Sarah and John walked hand in hand, enjoying the cool breeze and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. It had been a wonderful vacation, full of relaxation and adventure, but now it was time to head home.

As they approached their beach house, Sarah felt a pang of sadness. She didn't want to leave this beautiful place, but she knew that their real lives were waiting for them back in the city. John seemed to sense her mood and pulled her close.

"Don't worry, Sarah," he said. "We'll come back here someday. And in the meantime, we have each other."

Sarah smiled up at him, feeling grateful for the love they shared. They had been through so much together, and yet their bond only grew stronger with each passing day.

Once inside the beach house, they packed their bags and double-checked to make sure they hadn't forgotten anything. Sarah couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia as she looked around the cozy little house. She would miss the sound of the waves lulling her to sleep at night, and the feeling of sand between her toes as she walked along the beach.

As they loaded their bags into the car, Sarah took one last look at the ocean. The sun had disappeared below the horizon, leaving behind a beautiful display of colors in the sky. She sighed, feeling a twinge of regret that their vacation was over.

But then John took her hand and squeezed it gently. "It's not over yet," he said with a smile. "We still have each other."

Sarah smiled back, feeling a sense of warmth and contentment wash over her. With John by her side, she knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.

As they drove away from the beach house, Sarah closed her eyes and leaned her head against the window. She could hear John humming softly to himself as he navigated the unfamiliar roads. She felt safe and loved, and knew that no matter where they went or what they did, they would always be together.

The city was a sharp contrast to the peacefulness of the beach, with its busy streets and constant noise. But Sarah and John didn't mind. They were together, and that was all that mattered.

They settled back into their routine, but Sarah couldn't help feeling like something was missing. She missed the freedom and relaxation of their beach vacation, and the sense of adventure that came with exploring a new place.

One day, as they were having breakfast, John looked up from his newspaper and said, "I have an idea."

Sarah raised an eyebrow. "What kind of idea?"

John grinned. "What if we took a year off and traveled the world?"

Sarah's eyes widened. "Really?"

John nodded. "Why not? We're young and we have the means. It would be an adventure of a lifetime."

Sarah couldn't help but feel excited at the thought of traveling the world with John. They had always talked about it, but she never thought it would actually happen.

"I'm in," she said with a smile.

John's face lit up. "Great! Let's start planning."

Over the next few months, Sarah and John worked out the details of their trip. They would spend a year traveling the world, visiting exotic locations and immersing themselves in new cultures. It was a dream come true.

As they set out on their journey, Sarah felt a sense of excitement and wonder that she hadn't felt since their beach vacation. They were exploring new places, meeting new people, and making memories that would last a lifetime.

But most of all, Sarah was grateful to be doing it all with John by her side. They had come so far together

As the days passed, Emily found herself settling into her new life with Jack. They spent their days exploring the city and getting to know each other better. Emily was happy with her decision to move to the city and start a new life with Jack.

One day, while they were out for a walk, Jack stopped in front of a jewelry store. Emily noticed that he was looking at a diamond ring in the window.

"Jack, what's going on?" Emily asked.

"I want to buy you a ring," Jack said.

Emily was taken aback. "A ring?" she repeated.

"Yes," Jack said. "I want to show you how much you mean to me. I love you, Emily."

Tears welled up in Emily's eyes. She couldn't believe that Jack loved her. She had never felt so happy and loved before.

"Yes, Jack," she said. "I love you too."

Jack beamed with happiness and they went into the store to pick out a ring. Emily couldn't believe how beautiful the ring was when Jack showed it to her. It was a diamond solitaire in a platinum setting.

"It's perfect," Emily said.

Jack took the ring from its box and slipped it onto Emily's finger. It fit perfectly.

Emily couldn't believe how lucky she was to have Jack in her life. She knew that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

As they walked home, hand in hand, Emily felt a sense of contentment that she had never felt before. She knew that Jack was the one for her.

When they arrived back at their apartment, Jack took Emily into his arms and kissed her. Emily felt a surge of passion that she had never felt before. She knew that Jack was the only man for her.

As they lay in bed together that night, Emily knew that her life had changed for the better since she had met Jack. She couldn't wait to see what the future held for them.

The next morning, Emily woke up to find Jack cooking breakfast in the kitchen. She smiled as she watched him move around the kitchen, making pancakes and bacon.

"Good morning," Jack said, noticing that Emily was awake.

"Good morning," Emily said, getting out of bed and going over to give Jack a kiss.

They sat down to eat breakfast together, chatting about their plans for the day. Emily couldn't believe how happy she was with Jack. She knew that she had made the right decision by moving to the city and starting a new life with him.

As they finished breakfast, Jack turned to Emily and said, "I have a surprise for you today."

Emily's heart skipped a beat. "What is it?" she asked.

Jack grinned. "You'll have to wait and see," he said.

Emily couldn't wait to see what Jack had planned for the day. She knew that it would be something special, just like their love for each other.

To be continued.
