Chapter 5 - His curse.

He was sure news had already gotten round about his arrival. Those palace maids didn't know how to keep their mouths shut. Even if they did keep their mouths shut this time, the parade of cars that sped through the capital town of Cerian Isle was enough to spread word about his arrival.

The people on Cerian Isle knew the second prince of the kingdom was on a secret mission but very few people knew the purpose of his mission, including himself, the king and his most trusted elite vampires, no one else knew.

It needed to be kept a secret as a matter of state security.

A king on the verge of madness was not good for peace building.

He made his way into the cave that was behind the water fall. The second home of the great king of Cerian Isle.

"I almost thought for a second you've forgotten about me," a loud voice thundered through the cave.

"Your majesty, it is nice to see you too," he bowed as he neared where the man whom the voice belongs to sat.

There was a sinister silence before an amusing laughter roared through the cave as the king stood up, he was right in front of him in a split second.

"Come here little brother," the man said and took him in for a bare hug. This man's energy was hard to keep up with.

"I heard you left the palace again, so I figured you'd be here," Maximus said, when they broke the hug, looking around the place. "I see you've turned it into you safe space," he observed, with a distasteful look as he went on to explain all the reasons why he had to find a better safe haven but his elder brother shut him up before he could speak.

"You seem to forget that I'm King, Maximus. I can do whatever I fuck I please." He poured himself a glass of bourbon, nurtured it for second or two before gulping it down.

"I assume you found her, hence your arrival," he stated as a matter of fact, changing the topic to more pressing matters.

He poured his brother a glass

"She's a half blood?"

"Yes but she hasn't triggered that part of her yet, you know how it is for half bloods," he informed.

A smirk formed on the corners of his mouth.

"Oh she's a little virgin... how sweet, I guess we need to fix that part."

He liked his women experienced. It was a lot fun that way, because he wouldn't be the only one giving out the pleasure.

"What do we do if it's not her?" he asked and within a second he was standing right in front of him, both his hands on his shoulders, his pupils blood shut red.

"The festival is coming up soon. It has to be her Max, no matter what," he listened to the hopelessness in his voice starting to show on his face.Today was on

"I believe it is her brother, she was cloaked with strong magic, no doubt from a very skilled magic user. Why would anyone go through so much to hide a person?" he reasoned.

"Your theories don't really matter to me little brother, I only care about the results. And this one better be good because I'm running out of time and patience," he said as a matter of urgency.

He could feel himself slipping away, his control over his body was eating away little by little the more he approached his deadline. He was going to loose control and feed on his own people until non of them was left.

How sick that was, but since when were witches not sick?

Taking a deep breath, he released him and walked back to take his glass of wine. He took a long sip to calm down. He needed to set things in motion.

"Throw an official welcome ball tomorrow," he said after a while.

Maximus looked at him with a puzzled look before asking, "Are you sure you want people to know just yet? She's half blood, you know how your people react to that."

"My people are my problem to deal with," he said simply.

"What about the girl, she still in the dark about all of this. I think we should hold off with the ball for now, at least before she finds out about this whole thing."

"Do whatever you have to with her, but I'm meeting her tomorrow, at the ball."

If he was going to have a half blooded vampire in his palace, then he needed to make a statement and what better way to do it than at a ball.

When he found out the was a way to break his curse, something awoken in him, something that had been long dead. But that was about three centuries ago. Well that was before he knew how rare it was to come across a half blood.

Well that happens when you spend thousands years terrorizing people for being different. They were seen as an abomination. Vampires were not allowed to mix their blood with other creatures, being it witches or humans. Vampires that were caught were punished according to the old laws and their offsprings burned alive.

That was before he became king. The first law he got evicted was that law. And sometimes he can not help but think that created a loophole in his curse. After that revelation, he went out of his way to further ensure, that the half bloods had their freedom and that the Vampires would also be free to breed with whoever they wanted and not be punished for it.

He needed his and what better way to have it than creating a safe space them.

He would do anything if it meant he could spare himself of mass murdering his own people.

But they weren't going to let him off the hook so easily, it seems. Those witches always had to have the last laugh.

After three centuries, he still had nothing, just failed attempts to redeeming him self of a curse that was wrongfully placed on him.

When he lifted his head found his brother still there, patiently waiting for him. He must have blacked out again it seemed.

"If I were you brother, I would get my ass of to work now," he said taking a deep breath.

Maximus knew better that to argue with him, so he left him there in the cave and but to the palace in his vampire speed.
