Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

CLAP CLAP

"Mister Gale that is enough."

A boy dressed in all black uniform stepped forward. He had ash white hair with light blue eyes. Unquestionably, he was very handsome. Even Arthur was as well.

"Please go your separate ways before I report you both for disruptive behavior," his voice was calm, yet filled with authority.

Arthur clicked her tongue and turned around. "Don't forget about tomorrow." He disappeared into the distance.

Evelyn was alone with the other man.

'Great, but I still don't know where I am going.' Suddenly, the man walked forward and grabbed her wrist. She tried to resist, but his grip was unusually strong.

"You have to double-tap the screen." A small 3D hologram popped up from the watch. "You're placed in the Sheep dorms, which are here." A mini arrow appeared alongside the projection. "There, just follow that."

"Thank you" Evelyn whispered strangely displeased by his presence. He smiled gently at her. Evelyn nodded and quickly dashed off.

***

Finally Evelyn arrived at her door room, albeit with much difficulty.

CREEK

The old door to the room swung open loudly. There was a strong paint smell mixed with a little mold. The barren room only had the bare necessities. Evelyn laid in the bed almost too small for her.

'It's not the worse. At least I have my own room, food, and most importantly no violence.'

Coming from near nothing, Evelyn was not in dismay. However, she gritted her teeth as she passed the extravagant others dorms, where students even had an entire floor to themself.

The sun set, but Evelyn still could not sleep. She quickly put on clothes and headed to the library.

'Magic!' Her eyes shone in curiosity. There seemed to be a large gap between Evelyn's original time, and the present. She rushed filled in any gaps to thrive.

She grabbed all the books that grabbed her attention, and sat at a small wooden table. Hours passed quickly as she engrossed herself in the textbooks. Previously, her favoirte hobby was reading because she could escape her cruel reality, so it was not difficult for her to read for straight hours.

THUD

'Wow that was more than a lot.' Evelyn threw her body back and stretched. She grinned in delight as she finished nearly every book. "Thank goodness I learned how to read quickly".

She separated the books into topic groups.

From the history textbooks she learned Trauts were branded traitors because they secretly plotted to rebel against the Federation with a newly found power, magic. Ultimately, the Federation seized the power and built upon it.

Bloodlust slipped out from Evelyn multiple times as she read the blatant lies. They painted Trauts as criminals who were utter scum and meances to society. Of course, no one would question Traut's extermination with this narrative.

From the magic textbooks, she learned the most fundamentals. Each person has an artificial Core within them, designed by the Federation many decades ago. The Core will have an affinity one of the 4 elements: water, fire, wind, earth, and life. There are numerous subsets from these elements like ice, magma, electricity, and more.

'But why do all of these just say one element?' The books always referred to the Core only having one affinity.

In her battle with Edward, Evelyn used numerous elements within those few seconds.

'Ugh enough thinking'. She pushed the chair back and quickly got up. 'Let's visit one more place.'

***

The old doors slid open from Evelyn's slight touch. At a first glance, the very large room was separated into distinct area: an open space, a gym with weights. and various small private rooms.

Evelyn gasped at the wide landscape. In hindsight, this was the only area built to accommodate all of the Sheep dorm residents, which easily exceeded the room's capacity by more than 5 times. Also, little did she know those from other dorms received spacious and higher quality training area just for themselves!

Immediately after her quick glance, Evelyn noticed someone training.

'Working at this hour?' She watched him lift an bizarre amount of weights repeatedly. Although she could not see his face, Evelyn glanced over his well sculpted body. His sweaty shirt hugged his pulsating muscles.

'He must be dedicated to be working at this hour.' Evelyn ignored the stranger and headed to one of the private rooms. They were all white, which made her dizzy, but she quickly headed inside and took a seat on the cold floor.

It was obvious to Evelyn now that she had some power that lurked within her.

'Here. I'll have to overcompensate my social status with pure strength'

The only thought on her mind was to win tomorrow at the opener!

***

Evelyn borrowed a few books from the library about basic magic. Although it was a lot, she read through all of them.

'A Core huh?' It was almost too much like fantasy for her to believe. Nevertheless , she followed the instructions.

'Deep breath'

The slightly cold air seeped through her flared nostrils. In one swoop it moved down into her spacious lungs, filling it to the brim.

'More!'

She pictured the individual blood cells move with vigor. They flowed through her blood vessels and met together.

'Is that my Core?'

It did not look like a heart, but a large circular shape hovered in her chest cavity. It was a beautiful golden color with blurry edges. Strangely, translucent dark chains wrapped the Core, slightly dimming the golden hue.

Evelyn's brows furrowed. "This wasn't in the textbook!" However, she did not back down because it was only her first obstacle. 'I can't give up this soon'.

She took a deeper breath and pushed her blood to assault her Core. Sweat accumulated all over her body and a cutting pain almost caused her to scream out.

'Focus!'

She gripped her knees and continued. Relentlessly, she attacked the thick chains with everything. As if resonating with her effort, the Core began to pulsate as well. A wisp of unfamiliar golden energy protruded from Evelyn's body.

CRACK BAM

It whipped the floor and the walls, creating deep craters. However, Evelyn remained still within the eye of the storm.

BOOOM

A ring of energy exploded from her body. The small room shook with immense force. Evelyn slowly opened her dark eyes. Her dull world seemed a little brighter and colorful.

She whipped her head to the door. Suddenly, her hearing was so much sensitive.

CREEK

The door opened slowly. Evelyn recognized the young boy. His sweaty gray hair stuck to his face.

"…"

They stared at each other in silence. He quickly glanced her up and down before nodding and leaving.

Evelyn didn't even mind. She was too focus on her body.

"Everything is different"

She could feel her body in such detailed even without a deep focus. Her heart pumped faster, her vessels thicken, her bones grew more layers and denser, her thoughts processed quicker and clearer. It was a total transformation both physically and mentally.

Finally, she noticed the poor state of the room. She let a sigh of relief out as she remembered that she couldn't be charged as a student.

A little guilty, she quickly left the room. The young boy finally was gone. Evelyn skipped to her dorm.

'Is it bad if I start to enjoy this?' Her eyes lit up.
