Chapter 42 - Scarlet

They both hugged for a while, ignoring the other two people who were staring at them.

She asked her brother, "Why did you come to the press conference? You should know that if you didn't come, I would still come to pay you a visit."

Alex smiled at his sister, revealing his cute dimples. "I know, but I couldn't wait".

She wrapped her hands around his as they walked towards Mike and Cheng. "Okay, fine. Since you're here, how about I follow you to your lecture this afternoon, and then I'll spend the night at your house?" Of course she wouldn't just go to his house if he wasn't comfortable with it.

He was tense for a minute but then agreed with what she said. "Okay, sister. But there's a girl in my house. She's my girlfriend". He rubbed the back of his head, waiting to hear his sister's response.

Emma couldn't help but smile at her brother's behavior. Alex always loved being a protective older brother even though he was younger, he didn't want to hurt her feelings, so he agreed to let her come over to his place.

Most brothers wouldn't want their girlfriends to meet their sisters until they were ready to get married, but Alex trusted Emma when it came to his relationships.

Emma was glad that her brother trusted her, and she had always tried not to be too harsh on him while instilling good values in him. She always made sure he did the right thing, and she was proud of him.

Emma knew that Alex was a good person, and she was happy that he had found someone he loved.

Emma was excited to spend time with her brother and catch up on old times. She knew that they would have a great time together, just like they always did even though she'd only be spending a day with him.

Emma suddenly remembered Cheng and said to her brother, "By the way, this is Cheng, my friend. He'll be staying with us, and Mike too. I know your house is big enough, so are they both allowed?"

Alex looked at his sister mischievously and teased her, "Sure, Mike is allowed. But this Cheng guy can only be allowed if you tell me your true relationship with him."

Emma understood what her brother meant and admitted, "He's like my boyfriend." He was confused, and so was Mike. "Like your boyfriend or your boyfriend?" Emma rolled her eyes at him and said, "Whatever. Let's go."

She looked back at Cheng and Mike and said, "You both should talk. You can tell Mike everything. He knows a bit about me."

Emma left with her brother in his car to his afternoon lectures after making sure Cheng and Mike would get along well.

When the duo arrived at school, all eyes were on them. The lady beside the wealthiest kid in school was his sister, and everyone knew it after watching the press conference. The crowd was petrified and couldn't muster the courage to approach either of them. Even the girls who used to flirt with Alex were too intimidated to come close.

During the break, a few girls who were too engrossed in their previous lectures and hadn't checked their phones yet, shamelessly flirted with Alex when he arrived at the lecture room. They completely ignored the lady beside him.

Alex's magnetic personality drew the attention of many girls, much to the annoyance of other boys. Despite this, his sister didn't intervene in his affairs, leaving his admirers free to pursue their dream guy.

A group of guys, who looked like they were up to no good, noticed Emma and said with mischief, "Hey, who is this good-looking girl we have here? Hey, why don't you be mine, huh?" Emma didn't reply. Instead, she looked at her brother.

The leader of the gang was seething with anger. He grabbed Emma's chin fiercely and turned it to face him. 'I'm talking to you. Don't look away when I'm talking to you. And why do you have a silly mask on?' he sneered. He was about to take off her mask when Emma grabbed his arm and twisted it, breaking it.

The leader of the gang's face twisted in pain as Emma broke his arm. "I could have told you she didn't like anyone doing that, but now you have a broken arm". Alex said, feigning sympathy. The other guys tried to grab Emma, but she dodged them with ease. She then delivered a series of well-placed punches, each one calibrated to inflict just the right amount of pain. Finally, she kicked one of the guys so hard that he flew across the room and landed at the front door of the lecture room, right in front of a lecturer's legs.

The lecturer's eyes widened in shock as he saw the person who had just kicked the student. He swallowed hard, trying to keep his cool. He quickly scanned the room, making sure everyone was still standing. Well, some. "Quickly all of you injured, go to the clinic and get yourself treated. The rest of you settle down for your lectures," he said in a calm voice.

As he watched the press conference earlier that day, he had a feeling that something was off. He knew that the girl who was beside Alex was none other than Emma Raj, the famous savage queen.

He decided to make an announcement. "I would like every student here welcome a guest in our midst. She the one and only Emma Raj."

The room fell silent. Everyone looked around, trying to spot the famous yet mysterious lady. They soon realized that the only new person in the room was the girl beside Alex. 'So that's his sister' they all thought.

There was a moment of stunned silence, then the room erupted in applause but it was evident they were scared.

Alex and Emma both looked at themselves at the same time. After five seconds, they laughed at the way the students had reacted. They found it hilarious.

The air in the room was thick with tension. Everyone felt like they were walking on eggshells, afraid to look in the direction of the savage queen. They all faced the person who was teaching them, hoping to avoid her.

Emma didn't have time to study anyone either. She was busy helping her brother take notes while he rested his head on her shoulder. She was determined to help him succeed, even if it meant asking questions that could possibly be asked in his upcoming exams, even if the person teaching didn't mention it.

Alex had just finished his classes, and he was starving. Emma drove them home in his car, and they decided to grab some food on the way. They bought steak on a stick, and it was delicious.

When they arrived at Alex's house, they saw Emma's car and Mike's car parked in the garage. They walked inside, and they heard some sounds coming from the kitchen. They followed the noise and found a girl and two boys working together to cook. One of the boys was mostly participating in helping the girl cook.

Cheng was leaning against the kitchen counter, watching Mike and Scarlet cook. Emma noticed that the boys still had their masks on, which was a good sign. They weren't sure if Scarlet was a good girl or not. They weren't sure if she was after Alex's money or if she truly loved him. Emma also had her mask on.

Cheng suddenly turned and looked in Emma's direction. She saw him smile under his mask, and he walked up to her without giving Scarlet a chance to talk to Emma. "We need to talk," he said. Without waiting for her response, dragged her to the terrace of the house, forgetting the fact that her eyes would change color immediately he touches her.

Luckily, Mike was alert, so he quickly got Scarlet's and Alex's attention so they wouldn't see her eyes change color. Emma didn't say anything against Cheng dragging her away. When they got to the terrace, he scanned her for any sign of injury or stress and only when he was satisfied did he stop. Emma didn't stop him from doing this either.

Emma was curious about what Cheng wanted to talk about.

Cheng finally spoke what he had on his mind. "That Scarlet doesn't look like a good person. Of course, she looks innocent and well-trained with good manners, but there's something off about her. Like I said, she seems nice and well-behaved, but that's the issue. She's being too nice and friendly."

Emma understood what Cheng meant. She had met people like that so many times that she flowed well with what Cheng was saying. "How was she being too friendly? And is it to you only or both you and Mike?"

Cheng felt proud that his girlfriend was a really smart one. "Mike told her he wasn't interested in knowing her. She hasn't really heard my voice except for whenever I answered her with a 'mmm'. She has been giving me puppy dog eyes, trying to act cute and all, but to me, she looks like a ghost who just got roasted by her crush. She even tried touching me, but I avoided her. If she tries it again, I might peel her face off." Now he was really pissed.

Emma found the way he was acting funny. She smiled at him. He did look a bit pissed and, to avoid her gaze, he looked at the city from the terrace, hoping his mood would be better. She moved closer to him so that there was just a little space between them and stood on her toes so that she could reach his face without stretching and straining her arm.

She turned his face gently to face her and he obliged. She smiled at him and said, "You don't have to be pissed. I'm here now. I'll be with you throughout the rest of today. Neither of us will eat her food either. I'll cook for all of us and yours will be more special, and you'll get to sleep beside me tonight. I'm sure that's better, unless if I annoy you also."

He quickly said, "No! You don't"

She laughed lightly at his reaction. She had only seen him react like that towards her.
