Chapter 1 - Prologue

Klader Locke, a 21-year old underling working for the bureau; with the case of Bloodletter scratching the surface of the public, Klader has been ropped into the spiral of what's reality and what's fiction, what to believe and what not, who is speaking the truth and who is deceiving him or rather-

"Klader! Hera, Seok!"

It would seem that anybody would jerk out of their body at the booming sound of their superior but not us, not me; not when I've been used to him screaming my name since day one with him and as he calls these random screams as- 'making sure you are being attentive and not being piles of brainless corpses'.

I turned in my seat to see that Cecil Hera had an annoyed expression directed towards Seok Kyung who was asleep. Jesus. Does he not get any sleep at home?

The annoyed Cecil kicked Kyung from under the desk on which they were seated as the interns.

That outta do it. And it did, when I saw Kyung twitch in his chair and remember of his surroundings, he jerked in his chair; hitting his forehead on the desk. Oh, that's gonna leave a mark!

"Next time you fall asleep, I won't be your prince charming; but rather I'll sacrifice you to Bloodletter to stop the killings."

That would be Kaien Hasler for yer. The 26 year old man with a high sense of duty to justice. Also, one of the lead detectives on the case of Bloodletter and the one with heightened bloodlust for the killer.

"That would not stop the killings but I take your word for you to be willing to sacrifice me." came the reply of Kyung and the directed glare towards him increased when Kaien joined Cecil.

Kaien shook his head, almost to get rid of the energy of stupidity that he was enveloped in when entering the area.

"We are bringing in a new personal on in the active case of Bloodletter."

Well, that wasn't much of a shock; it was expected of the higher up's to pull such a stunt to please the public.

Kaien continued, leaning against the empty desk that was placed near the windows. "And since our division is the lead division for the case of Bloodletter, they will be joining us."

Cecil swiped her sneakers across the marble flooring turning to face her superior as she finally let her glare drop from Kyung. "Kaien, sir." Kaien nodded his head, giving her the signal to go on. "Who exactly is the person joining us?"

Kaien pushed himself away from the desk and walked towards the centre of the area, speaking as his midnight blue trench coat swayed to the momentum of his feet.

"The person who will be joining us is from the city that never sleeps, his name is-"

-

"Aren. Aren Haynes. That's my name."

Spoken with a deep gravelly voice was the dark haired brunet with shining emerald eyes, sitting at the centre of the buzzing nightclub.

The clamor of the club only shot up hearing the brunet speak. If speaking in terms of decibels, these people were definitely going to be deaf being open this hazardous clamor but it didn't matter, did it?

"Don't you think you're taking this too far?" came a voice to the right of Aren. Aren needn't need to look to know who it was, it was blatantly obvious who would have the nerve to disturb him on a day out.

"No. No, not really." responded Aren with a scrunched up nose before looking at the newly arrived person. "I think I can make things go farther, don't you think; Zaer?" it was formed as a question but it wasn't one.

There came no verbal response, just a scoff from Zaer and the dip of the dark crimson velvet couch as he plopped besides Aren.

It came as no surprise that the intensity of stares on Aren increased with Zaer in the arrival. It was to be expected, Aren with the brunet hair along emerald eyes and Zaer with his black hair and brown eyes, and not to mention the way the club lighting complimented their bronze skin. It was a given people would be staring, it was nothing new to take notice of for the two men.

There was an added weight dropped onto Aren's lap, which made him turn his head to face Zaer; only to see that Zaer had already snatched a glass, pouring himself whiskey on top of the crushed ice.

"The case." there came a pause from Zaer's side as he took a gulp of the whiskey. "The one that you wanted. It's all yours, man."

Aren didn't say anything as he turned to face the people.

"Not like you needed the confirmation, anyway." added Zaer.

Just then a smirk appeared on Aren's face, "Indeed, Zae. The case would've been on my desk by next week, we are just doing them a favor by reaching out."

"Toast to it?" asked Zaer, already moving his glass in the direction of Aren.

"Here's to the identity of Bloodletter."

The clink of the glasses resounded throughout the blasting music of the club as the night continued on.
