Chapter 93 - A Classic Romantic Tropes

You know those manga romance scenarios where the main character uses a "kabedon" on their crush? Sorry, if you're not familiar with kabedon...

Kabedon refers to the action of fiercely slapping a wall, creating a distinct "don" sound. It can also signify the act of protesting by slapping the wall, often seen in shared housing like condominiums when neighbors make noise.

Oh, if you're wondering how I know about this, it's because during my time in the outside world with my ex-mistress, Siesta, she used to read this manga. Occasionally, I'd sneak a peek when she was engrossed in it. Well, that's how I learned about it.

But then... this happens.

"Shun," Remilia looked up at me, her expression sharp.

"L-Lady Remilia... Let me explain."

"Okay... I'll let you explain in three words."

"How can I do that?!"

"Who knows? At least I'm letting you explain, right?"

Yeah, but how can I condense this explanation into just three words?

Right now, I'm essentially doing that "kabedon" on Lady Remilia. But first, let's go back to the moments right before it happened.

I knocked gently on Remilia's door.

"Lady Remilia?"

Is she in her room?

My hand hovered over the doorknob, but I hesitated. "What if Lady Remilia is sleeping... or changing? Wouldn't that be bad? Wouldn't I get in serious trouble?"

Suddenly, a hand patted my shoulder, and a whisper brushed my ear, "What are you up to?"

I whirled around, stumbling back in surprise. "L-Lady Patchouli... Don't startle me like that."

"...My apologies. But tell me, what were you trying to do just now?" Patchouli asked, her curiosity evident.

"I was going to clean up Lady Remilia's room," I explained.

Patchouli, in her usual enigmatic manner, questioned, "Oh? What about mine? Are you not going to clean up the library?"

I thought for a moment before replying, "I was saving the library for last since it's quite spacious."

She nodded, seemingly satisfied with my answer. "I see..." Patchouli glanced at me and the door. "Make sure to do it quickly," she advised a hint of seriousness in her voice.

I gulped, feeling a bit unnerved by her tone. "I will," I assured her.

Her lips curved into a faint, knowing smile before she turned and walked away. Just before she disappeared from sight, she said something that left me turn pale, "If you don't want to die."

I was left alone in the hallway, a shiver running down my spine, wondering what exactly I had gotten myself into with this cleaning duty.

Anyway, I have to finish this quickly.

I took a deep breath and entered the room, determined to get the cleaning done as efficiently as possible.

"Alright," I muttered to myself, scanning the room. "First, let's fix the bed. Clothes should be neatly folded, the floor needs a good sweep, and those windows could use a wipe-down..."

I couldn't help but grumble internally about how this cleaning duty should have been Sakuya's responsibility, especially since she was the maid. Yet, there I was, thanks to a note from her that read, "Clean everyone's room, including mine - Sakuya."

Setting my complaints aside, I got to work.

Work, Work, Work, Work.

As I diligently swept the floor, my broom unexpectedly bumped into something hidden beneath Lady Remilia's bed.

"No way... This can't be what I think it is." I picked up the object, my eyes widening as I examined it closely.

It was a manga.

A smile crept across my face as I paused my cleaning and began to flip through its pages.

Without a doubt, it was indeed a manga. It had been ages since I'd last seen a manga.

Unable to resist the allure, I took a seat on the bed and began reading, losing myself in the captivating story.

Several hours flew by, and I completely lost track of time. It wasn't until the midday sun pierced through the curtains that I realized how long I had been sitting there.

"Hm... I really should get back to cleaning," I mumbled to myself, reluctantly putting the manga aside.

But as I looked up, I was met with a piercing glare from Lady Remilia, who was standing right there, her arms crossed.

"U-Uh... I, uh..." I stammered, feeling utterly caught off guard.

"You certainly have some guts, Shun," Lady Remilia said, her tone sharp as her eyes glowed red.

She lunged at me, and I barely managed to dodge her attacks, darting around the room in a desperate attempt to avoid her furious assault.

"Lady Remilia, please, I didn't mean to—" I tried to reason with her but...

"Oh? Are you saying you are not reading that book?"

She interrupted me, her attacks relentless.

I continued to evade her swiping strikes, my heart pounding with fear and confusion. "The manga story is actually great!" I blurted out amidst the chaos.

To my surprise, she paused, her red eyes narrowing. "Really?"

"Yes, it was a great story!" I responded, genuinely meaning it.

She studied me for a moment, and then sighed. "Give me the manga." She moved closer, but before she could reach it, she slipped on the floor, losing her balance.

"Watch out, Lady Remilia!" I exclaimed, catching her just in time and placing her gently against the wall.

"I'm fine," she insisted, but as she looked up at me, something seemed different in her expression.

"More importantly... Shun."

"L-Lady Remilia... Let me explain."

"Okay," she conceded, "but in three words."

"How can I..."

"Who knows? At least I'm letting you explain, right?"

"Leave this room.." She said in a low tone

"Huh?"

With a final, forceful command, Lady Remilia exclaimed, "Leave. This. Room!" Her foot connected with my stomach, sending me crashing into her door, which shattered on impact.

I groaned in pain as I struggled to my feet, clutching my aching stomach.

"As you wish..."

Lady Remilia watched as I left the hallway, her expression a mix of frustration and embarrassment.

She sighed softly, covering her mouth with her hand as she muttered to herself, "That was close... Shun is just one of my properties... Just a property."

  1. "kabe" means wall
"don" is the sound of the wall getting slammed (From my own understanding)
