"You know he came to save me?" Lauren's voice trembled with a mix of hope and fear as she sought confirmation from her uncle.

"I do. He did everything he could in these ten months. He went to the Village—" 

Harrison began, but his words were abruptly halted by Lauren's interruption.

"Wait a minute. What do you mean by ten months?" Lauren's tone sharpened, her confusion transforming into alarm as she took a couple of steps back. "What does that mean? And why is everyone acting like they've seen a ghost? I mean, alright, I get it. I was gone for days, but..."

For a fleeting moment, a shadow of panic flickered across Lauren's eyes, mirrored in the look Harrison shot towards the door. It was a reaction so quick, she might have imagined it, but then his face smoothed out, his expression becoming neutral, his eyes devoid of emotion. It was a sudden change that sent a shiver down her spine, a reaction she couldn't dismiss as mere coincidence.
