Chapter 4 - This isn't over yet

"Leave me!! You bloody creature!" Lauren's lips quivered terribly, and she continuously rocked back and forth as she muttered words of repentance, openly begging God to not make her suffer any longer in Hell.

She continued kicking and crawling until she held an iron rod. Immediately, she used it on the monster. She hit its arms, but the tight hold still didn't let go, so she hit four times nonstop, and when she loosened its hold, Lauren hit the rod on its head and stood on her foot before again starting to run.

She saw an old parking lot and hid behind a car. She heard the monster making weird noises of agony. No one was there to witness such a sight.

Lauren heard a car smashing sound, which meant someone was there or someone just got out of the car. Lauren's heart raced as she peeked out from behind the car, trying to see who it was. She couldn't see anything at first, but then she noticed movement in the shadows.

There was also a song playing with a beat that wasn't perfect for the situation right now. They should have played a song that made the situation more realistic than it was.

Then, suddenly, the song changed and played: The devil is human – AURORA. Every cell in her body started working way faster. Goosebumps spread all over her body, and she was in a shocked state.

A tear fell from her eyes after hearing a few lines of lyrics. She shut her eyes when she realised what was coming next.

Lauren wished the person the best of luck and prayed that whoever it was stayed alive. But when she heard the monster running towards a specific place, she got scared even more. Where's my mobile? she thought.

Slowly, she checked the pockets of her jacket and jeans, but the mobile phone wasn't there. She shut her eyes, thinking, "Where did I put it?"

She remembered putting in her backpack when she was preparing to sit on the motorbike and sighed in helplessness.

'What is this luck? I can't call any of them. I am helpless. I need someone. Someone — please.' She thought her head hung low.

Her breathing was unbelievable. All of a sudden, fear enveloped her body. She shivered but could not make any type of noise; instead, she had a death wish.

Lauren was battling internal turmoil; being in a situation like this for so long was starting to affect her more mentally than physically. She was beginning to lose her understanding of the world she had grown to understand.

She was aware of the many unknowns and superstitions of the world, like magicians, but the existence of monsters wasn't one she would actually find herself considering to be true.

Lauren felt all energy fading from her body, as her body was turning puny from the fear that was hanging on her shoulders. It was not just that she had vomited and was still feeling nauseous when she was in the office.

As if seeing herself walking in the clouds. "It's my chance," she murmured before starting to walk slowly in the opposite direction.

"Don't turn... Don't turn." Lauren chanted in her mind, but somehow she took a glimpse from her side. But then she turned fully and put her hands on her mouth in shock and disbelief.

The monster hovers over the person, its saliva falling on the person's face, which obviously disgusts her and makes her weaker from the inside than before.

"H-Help me," she heard the person stutter out, but there was nothing she could have done to save him even if she tried.

She was also running for her life, and if she was still alive, it must have been her luck that brought her here. She did want to help the person; she was able to see the person's hair. He was male before the monster devoured the person's heart and neck.

The appearance of the monstrous lady was ghastly, too terrifying for even the worst of nightmares. It was a horrendous and gory sight that one wouldn't even want their worst enemy to witness.

She knew she didn't have time to see the scene. Lauren saw that when the creature finally finished the person and looked at her through its big, bloodshot eyes, Lauren finally decided to run; her spirit fell to the tip of her toenails. The monster didn't hesitate to chase after her.

"What I did to you!" Lauren shouted in panic and didn't stop her legs from running. Now she felt how that deer must have felt when the lion chased him. The deer must have seen death in front of him, just like her!

After an intense chase between her and the monster, Lauren distracted the monster by throwing a stone that she saw on the ground.

The car made noises, to which the monster ran in the opposite direction. Now, Lauren got to know the weakness of the monster that it couldn't see her clearly and could use it to save herself from it. It was a mindless creature. She wanted answers from her uncle, but after she got out of there alive.

Lauren hid behind another car again and checked the doors of the car, which, to her luck, were unlocked. Lauren thanked whoever the owner was.

She came forward, opened the door, and lay on the passenger seat, shutting her eyes tight as if doing that would make her safe. She kept praying in her heart that it might have gone somewhere and wouldn't chase her, but her eyes snapped open and sweat broke on her whole face as if she just washed her face.

Never in a million years would she have even imagined that there would come a time when she had to deal with something completely different and unrelated. She never thought she would end up in this situation where her death was just inches away from her. What should she do?

The monster jumped on the roof of the car, poked a hole in the tempo, and tried entering from it while its eyes looked for her.

"AHHH! no–no–no!!" Lauren screamed four times louder than before and pushed her body into the passenger seat.

The monster jumped down, came to the other side, and broke the window too. The glass window broke on her, and many pieces hit her badly, but Lauren kept praying. This time she didn't move or do anything; if this was it, then so be it.

She waited for some miracle to happen. She heard the car noises, which terrified her to the core. What was happening?" she thought.

After some time, when the noises died down, Lauren sat up straight on the seat and looked out to find a man standing there with his back facing her. She hurriedly came out of the car and looked around to find no one but a man standing there with a sword in his hand.

He slowly and steadily turned his neck and looked through his shoulder towards her. Those murderous, piercing red eyes bore into her charcoal-black ones. She let out a soft whimper. He clenched his jaws, fisting his hands upon seeing her, as if in rage.

Dread skittered down her spine in fear, more than she was afraid of the monster.

"This isn't over yet," she said in an almost whispered voice because of how low her voice was.

The thought made her body shiver again as she looked around for something to do. Lauren was shocked when she saw him, but the man rescued her after killing the monster, didn't he?

Despite his previous heroic act, she couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn't over yet. As she searched for a way out, her body was overcome with dread, and she ultimately passed out on the ground.
