Lily couldn't help but wonder what had brought them all here and why Mr. William's presence seemed to instill such fear.
Her palms grew sweaty as she anticipated the impending conversation, her anxiety intensifying with each passing second.
She tried to steady her racing thoughts, reminding herself to stay composed and focused. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Mr. William cleared his throat and began to speak.
She knew that this conversation would only be about her and the rumours; the weight of that realisation pressed down on her shoulders. With a deep breath, she braced herself for whatever they would say she did. She will say the opposite of it.
"Have a seat, Lily, dear." Mr. William beckoned Lily to sit down.
Lily hesitated for a moment, her heart pounding in her chest, before she slowly made her way towards the empty chair across from Mr. William.
