Student bystanders were taken aback and began shouting. Some rushed forward, attempting to help, while Feyre desperately reached out to grab Lauren's hand, but it was too late—the portal closed just as quickly as it had appeared, leaving Lauren nowhere to be seen.
A heavy silence fell over the crowd, and shock was evident on everyone's faces.
Hazel and Zaiden heard the commotion and rushed towards the stairs. They arrived to find the students in a daze, still processing what had just happened.
Hazel was concerned and rushed to ask, "What's going on here? What happened?"
A student got the courage and said, Stambling. "There was a portal... It just appeared out of nowhere, and Lauren fell into it!
"L..Lauren?" Hazel couldn't hold her weight as she almost fell on the ground but Zaiden held her and supported her before turning to ask.
