Chapter 30 - 30 A Rare Weapon

A large blue spherical wall was quickly made to protect the other bandits as Jerouch sent a couple of water bullets.

The sphere rippled vehemently, but it didn't collapse immediately.

This was the work of the mages in the bandit group and their teamwork amazed even Jerouch.

Immediately the blue spherical wall finished its work, long arrows zoomed forward as the archers took over.

' Earth wall. '

A thick wall made of earth reaching about ten meters tall and several meters wide, sprouted out from the ground.

Boom!

Boom!

The wall shook as it stood still, bearing the full force of all the arrows.

Jerouch kicked the ground and jumped. He got to the top of the wall in a few seconds, and kicking it, he sprung forward, allowing gravity to act on him.

Before he landed on the ground though, more arrows and spells were already heading his way.

' Foolish boy. ' The bandits' leader smirked. ' Exposing himself in mid-air, hmph. '

' What is he doing? ' The merchants' leader tightened his grip on one of the carriages as he saw Jerouch's action as soon as the wall collapsed.

Jerouch continued springing forward, not thinking of dodging the oncoming attacks.

When the multiple attacks were about a meter from him, he finally acted.

' Swap. '

He muttered in a hushed tone, his lips barely moving.

Instantly, he changed position with a boulder that he threw previously in the midst of the bandits.

' Eh? '

Everyone watching had a horrified look as they saw what just transpired.

The boulder appeared in mid-air where Jerouch was previously before it started free-falling.

Jerouch, on the other hand, appeared inside the bandits' formation.

Using the element of surprise to his advantage, he swung the staff he held with his right hand diagonally.

Bam.

'' Argh. ''

The sceptre hit two bandits. The farthest was sent flying, backwards like a ball, and the closest had his skull smashed and his brain matter splattered everywhere.

Jerouch's chilly eyes landed on the bandits, and they all pulled back on reflex.

They were shaken to the core as was evident by the way some of them held their weapons shakily.

' The strength of a warrior, and the multiple spells of a mage? ' The bandits' leader analyzed in his head as his expression grew heavy.

'' And from his mana fluctuation, he's at least at the D rank. '' The merchants' leader also analyzed as he made eye contact with the bandits' leader. He couldn't help but smirk at his assailants' misfortune.

' Just who did we offend? ' The bandits' leader pondered, ignoring his supposed-to-be prey's taunt.

'' B-boss shouldn't we retreat? '' One of his minions suggested in a disjointed tone while shifting backwards at a pace visible to any onlooker.

'' These bastards. '' The boss gnashed his teeth in annoyance as he fired a lightning bolt from his heavy axe.

The bolt went straight at the bandit who just spoke, and with no suspense, a large hole that opened to his back was made on his chest.

An aghast look was visible on his face as he questioned why he was suddenly attacked by his boss who he had worked for, for several years.

'' Anyone who retreats shall die. '' The boss bellowed, making his underlings gulp.

They knew how crazy and ruthless their boss could be, so no one was willing to risk being on his bad side.

However, the enemy before them wasn't an easy one, but most of them believed that they could defeat him if they worked together.

' Earth spikes. '

' Fire arrows. '

' Wind blades. '

Jerouch activated three skills consecutively and the surrounding mana churned.

The bandit boss again gritted his teeth as he cut his thumb with the axe he was wielding.

Blue lightning began to crack around the axe as it made a giant web. The lightning soon connected with five of his underlings and it sucked them dry.

Being a bandit, they always happened to be lucky sometimes, and find treasures in the form of weapons, money, potions, or other artefacts.

The axe was one of those treasures Raph, the boss of the bandits, found it years ago when his bandits' group was at its infant stage.

Originally, he was a lightning mage with little battle power.

However, since he came across the axe, his power rose sharply, and he started building his force.

The axe could channel out his element, which is lightning, and he had even escaped the pursuit of a D rank warlock before with the axe when he brazenly went to rob a cave.

By sucking the life force of the user and those beside him, the axe could amplify the attack power of the user in multiple folds for a few seconds.

And that was what Raph did.

'' You idiots, protect me for a while, I'll finish off the bastard,'' Raph ordered in a grim tone.

His face was twisted as he bore the pain that the axe was causing as it forcibly amplified his power.

' Um? ' Jerouch raised his eyebrows. ' What's that? ' He thought curiously.

He knew it was best to finish off his opponent now, but he decided against it.

He wanted to know what Raph's plan was and how far it could go.

Warlocks were sly and cunning, and they didn't always rely on their strength in battle.

' I need to familiarize myself with their different tactics and unorthodox ways. ' He muttered, his eyes blazing with the flame of excitement and anticipation.

Raph soon finished mustering all the strength he could give out at the moment, and he was surprised that Jerouch had stopped attacking.

' 'Nice. '' He muttered as bolts of lightning covered his body together with the axe. '' Your overconfidence will be your downfall. ''

'' Arrhh. '' Raph yelled and swung the axe, allowing it to project forward with immense speed.

Jerouch squinted his eyes seeing the fast moving axe coated in blue lightning bolts which vibrated in the air.

'' O-oh no. '' The merchants' leader panicked. '' What's he going to do? '' he said, his heart ready to jump out.

Jerouch on the other hand focused his eyes and activated two skills before advancing at a great speed.

Boom!

There was a great collision wave that spread out making everybody nearby lose their balance.

By the time they regained their senses, everyone present had an appalled look seeing the result of the clash.
