Chapter 23 - Golden Turkey

Watching the golden thunderbird effortlessly subdued by Laura, Alexander's face showed renewed admiration. Laura's ability to easily tame such a ferocious golden thunderbird was indeed remarkable.

In addition, the soldiers of the City of Hope were dumbstruck, looking up at the sky, seemingly lost in confusion.

"Hey, guys, why are you all looking up? What's there to see?"

"I don't know why I'm standing here."

"Strange, what exactly happened?"

The people on the scene all looked up at the sky with blank expressions. They couldn't understand why they were just staring at the sky, feeling as if their memories had been erased, unable to recall anything.

They seemed to have forgotten the golden thunderbird that appeared above the City of Hope.

They also forgot about the beautiful and powerful goddess who saved the entire city.

They only remembered that Alexander was their lord, and they must always be loyal to him and the city.

The golden thunderbird was terrified. This beautiful woman possessed unimaginable energy fluctuations, giving off a profoundly unfathomable aura.

"Beautiful lady, who exactly are you? I am the reincarnation of a sacred bird. You better think carefully, do you really want to make me this man's pet?"

"Remember, my name is Laura. You come from the sacred bird tribe?"

Laura looked the golden thunderbird up and down, frowning slightly: "Strange, how can you prove you're from the sacred bird lineage? I can't sense the aura of a sacred thunderbird from you. However, you do look like a descendant of an old acquaintance."

"Laura? That name sounds familiar, but I've been sealed for so long, my mind isn't very sharp. Why can't I remember where I've heard that name before?"

The golden thunderbird shook its head: "Also, how old are you this year? I am a sacred bird who has existed for hundreds of thousands of years, not a descendant of your acquaintance. I admit I can't beat you, but... don't take advantage of me!"

"I'm not taking advantage of you. My father was a good friend of the Thunderwing God-king. I met the Thunderwing Emperor when I was a child. You look a lot like him," Laura said with a smile.

"Your father knows the Thunderwing God-king? That's great! We're clearly on the same side. How about letting me go? To be honest, I don't want to be this jerk's pet. It's too restrictive!" The golden thunderbird showed a flattering smile.

"Let you go? Of course!" Laura smiled too.

"That's great. As long as you let me go, I have some high-grade spirit meat stored. I'll definitely treat you to a delicious barbecued feast!" The golden thunderbird cautiously said to Laura.

"High-grade spirit meat? Sounds good. But I've heard that thunderbird meat is a rare delicacy in the world, much tastier than ordinary spirit meat."

"Beau... ah, no way! Senior, who told you that? There must be some misunderstanding. thunderbird meat is too tough, not tasty at all, can easily break teeth, very unhealthy!"

The golden thunderbird was utterly terrified. It had been sealed for a hundred thousand years, and just after returning, it was about to be turned into stew meat. What a tragic fate!

"My husband is not a jerk, and if you speak like that again, I will make you pay the price!" Laura's face darkened.

"Your husband?" The golden thunderbird pointed at Alexander, its face showing disbelief.

"It's a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding! I meant that I am the jerk, you heard wrong."

Watching Laura's gloomy face, the golden thunderbird felt it could die at any moment.

"I really was talking about myself, I am the jerk, please don't be angry!" The golden thunderbird pleaded, hoping to calm the intimidating aura emanating from Laura.

Laura let out a playful smile, relaxed her grip, and affectionately patted the golden thunderbird's head.

"Alright then, no matter who you were before, from today onwards, you are Alexander's pet. I will establish a life contract between you two. You must ensure Alexander's safety and not go against any of his wishes. If you break this agreement, you will suffer the punishment of the life contract, which will dissipate your soul into nothingness."

Laura held the thunderbird's head in one hand and drew a complex pattern in the air with the other.

"Wait! Didn't we agree that I would just be your husband's pet? Why do I have to sign this life contract? It's not fair, I object!"

Despite the golden thunderbird's struggles, it couldn't resist Laura. Its head was mercilessly pulled towards the intricate pattern in the void.

"You are such a naughty bird, stop moving around, you're disrupting my process," Laura said, her lips curving into a smile.

Then, she clenched her fist and landed two punches on the golden thunderbird's head. After the blows, two large bumps appeared on its head, and it blacked out.

After the golden thunderbird lost consciousness, Laura easily guided its massive head into the "life contract" in the void. Invisible lines intertwined in the void, merging the thunderbird with the pattern and formally binding it to Alexander through the life contract.

...

About half an hour later, the golden thunderbird, forcibly bound to Alexander by Laura through the life contract, woke up. Though awake, it chose to play dead instead of opening its eyes.

"Damn, they actually made me sign a life contract with a human, how outrageous!" the golden thunderbird cursed inwardly.

Although the golden thunderbird played dead convincingly, Laura saw through its ruse instantly.

"Stop playing dead, come and greet your master," Laura said with a smile, looking at the golden thunderbird lying on the ground.

The golden thunderbird lay motionless, appearing lifeless. It thought, "Hmph, I'm not that stupid. I'll just lie here, what can you do about it?"

"Still pretending? My husband said he's quite interested in tasting thunderbird meat. I think it's a good idea!" Laura covered her mouth and laughed: "If this thunderbird really is dead, we can roast it!"

Laura then walked over to the golden thunderbird and, seemingly out of nowhere, produced a huge roasting pan.

"Who am I? Was I sleeping just now?" Seeing that Laura was serious about her intention, the golden thunderbird decided it couldn't continue playing dead. It hurriedly opened its eyes, feigning confusion.

"You are now Alexander's pet. Why not go greet your master?" Laura grabbed the golden thunderbird's wing and started dragging it towards Alexander.

"I %@$# (bird curse)... Ouch, gently, that hurts!" Despite its massive size, the golden thunderbird was completely helpless against Laura.

"This thunderbird is a descendant of the sacred bird lineage, and it indeed has some abilities. Making it the guardian beast of the City of Hope? What do you think?" Laura asked with a smile.

In Laura's hands, the golden thunderbird looked like a small chicken, filled with despair.

As a member of the sacred bird lineage, it still retained its prestige despite being imprisoned for a hundred thousand years. It never expected to encounter such an unreasonable and brutal woman upon its release. However, her strength was undeniable, and there was nothing it could do about it.

Thinking of Laura's terrifying power, the golden thunderbird began to ponder. The City of Hope, though desolate now, must have been a grand and powerful city once.

Joining this top-tier force temporarily wouldn't disgrace the status of the sacred bird lineage, the golden thunderbird thought.

"Agreed, of course, agreed." Alexander looked at the golden thunderbird before him and smiled.

This was no ordinary bird but a legendary golden thunderbird. If it could become the guardian beast of the City of Hope, it would undoubtedly add a formidable fighting force to the city.

If enemies dared to attack in the future, just letting the golden thunderbird take action would suffice. A single breath of the thunderbird could intimidate the entire field, scaring off any attackers.

"Little bird, from today onwards, you are a member of City of Hope. Any objections?" Laura said with a smile.

"No objections." The golden thunderbird hung its head, feeling very aggrieved. It thought, I'm already your husband's pet, why go through the trouble of making me the guardian beast of the City of Hope as well? What's the difference between the two?

Despite its strong dissatisfaction, it dared not complain in front of Laura, or else it might end up with two more lumps on its head.

The golden thunderbird could only comfort itself inwardly, repeating phrases like "Turn of the tide, if you can't beat them, join them."

"Greetings to my master," the golden thunderbird said to Alexander.

"No need to be so formal, do you have a name?" Alexander asked with a friendly smile.

"My grand name is Invincible, and people commonly refer to me as the Invincible Golden Sacred Thunderbird," the golden thunderbird pondered and said.

"Invincible? What kind of name is that, it's too commonplace!" Alexander frowned.

"Then, how about you give me a new name, master?" the golden thunderbird suggested.

"Hmm, I'm thinking about it," Alexander said with a slight smile, "How do you feel about the name Turkey?"

"Turkey? That name is too unsophisticated. Master, can we choose another name?" the golden thunderbird pleaded.

"Is it too lowly? Alright then, let's call you Golden Turkey. I think this name suits you," Alexander proposed.

"I..." The golden thunderbird glanced at Laura, ultimately sighed helplessly, and swallowed its words.

"Do you know why I chose this name for you? It's because your previous character was too flamboyant, easily bringing you trouble. My intention is just a reminder to act low-key so you won't encounter various troubles," Alexander said confidently, recalling the thunderbird's arrogant demeanor when first summoned.

"I agree with this viewpoint," Laura patted the golden thunderbird's head and said.

"Your previous name was Invincible, suggesting that your actions were very high-profile, and you must have offended many powers, ultimately leading to your imprisonment for a hundred thousand years. If it weren't for my husband, you still wouldn't be free, so the person you should be most thankful to is Alexander."

"Alright, then I'll be called Golden Turkey from now on. Um! I like this name, and I'll change my ways, act low-key," Golden Turkey said.

"Also, your current form is too conspicuous, can you transform into a human?" Alexander asked.

"Isn't being the center of attention good? I like being the focus of everyone's gaze," Golden Turkey responded.

"Remember to be low-key, haven't you forgotten?" Alexander reminded.

"Alright!"

Golden Turkey hesitated for a moment, then under Alexander's watchful eye, quickly transformed into a cute little boy.

Why a child? Is this thunderbird still in its juvenile stage? But this looks much better, at least not as oppressive as before.

Having made the golden thunderbird his pet, the next step was to construct new buildings for the City of Hope!
