Beauregard noticed Alexander's gaze and his face turned pale. He hastily spoke, "Mr. chief, isn't ten million gold coins a bit excessive? If we could reduce the amount—"
"Shut up! This has nothing to do with us! Why should we take responsibility for Alexander's mistakes?" Leopold retorted, glaring at Beauregard.
"Ah, that's not quite right, now is it?" John, who had been enjoying the spectacle, interjected with a sly smile. "This Alexander came with you from Forest City. His missteps are certainly your concern."
"Thank you for your support," the village chief glanced gratefully at John before turning to Leopold. "Everyone knows Alexander came here as part of your delegation. If you don't compensate us for our losses, you will not be leaving here easily."
