A large fire destroyed the magnificent mansion that was built several centuries ago. Who would have known that a respectable figure in the country's politics would face his death within these castle walls? Angela looked around the office and could only sigh. Life is so short, and just a day can change many things.
She was even more confused that the whole building caught on fire but nobody escaped until the fire burned out. This didn't make sense. She tucked her hair behind her ears and walked slowly towards the main office.
He always felt that the case was not so simple. Her intuitions have always been spot on, and this time, although she had her doubts, there was nothing concrete at the scene that she could point out.
After looking around for more clues, she returned to her office. Even though she was determined to investigate the case further, it had to wait until later. She was more excited today than any other day. Her fiancee was back and there was a sweet smile on her lips.
People around her were stunned as they saw Angela smiling at them, something that had never happened before. She was known as the ice princess among her subordinates. All of them knew that she was a retired soldier and that made them respect her more.
Her spotless record as an agent as well as being a top marksman earned her respect among her peers. They were in a daze seeing this stoic person smile so much.
Mark Wilbrow who was drinking a cup of coffee in his office saw Angela returning to her office and he could only shake his head. The woman was really stubborn. He knew that her fiance was returning soon, but she still insisted on checking the case.
He strode towards her office and knocked on the door and a cold voice echoed
"Come in!"
He smiled and opened the door to see a beautiful woman. She had short hair and a jade-like face. She was wearing a dark jacket and dark jeans along with army boots. The sturdy figure was looking at a bouquet of flowers placed in front of her.
A playful smile appeared on Mark's lips when he saw the flowers on the table.
"Looks like your fiance sent you flowers even before he landed in DC. This is very lethal for single guys like us. Maybe I should learn some methods from him to chase girls."
Angela snorted and said in a low voice.
"Your problem is more than your methods, you run behind every woman who just looks at you. "
Mark choked on his coffee after hearing her words. This woman is ruthless with her comebacks.
"What do you mean woman? I don't date people that easily. "I'm a principled man." Mark snorted and sat down.
"Yeah very principled. too much that you can't help but run after more than one woman at the same time"
Angela looked at him and narrowed her eyes. There was a hint of danger in her eyes. The look told him that if he spoke any more he would be smacked upside down. Mark shut his mouth decisively. Well, he was not strong enough to fight her, so as a principled man he could only shut up.
"Well, what did your fiancée write on the note? Is it something sweet? I can't imagine him saying anything sweet and looking at your face. You soldiers are all stuck in the mud people" Mark could only change the subject and insult her as far as possible
He too admired her when she first became an agent and then his partner but soon hit a wall when he got to know her. He was also a handsome man. He was more than six feet tall with chiseled features. When he first saw Angela, he was smitten. He used every way possible to court her. He soon found himself rejected in every way possible.
His pride was hurt by her and during the FBI Training, he wanted to beat her in combat training. However, the beating he got from her during that time still sent shivers down his spine. She was ruthless and smacked him left and right in the ring until he fainted.
From that day forward, he never tried to court her again. Soon he found out that there was someone in her life. He was so important to her that even a call from him can bring a rare smile to her lips.
That was the final straw and after seeing that he completely gave up. A person who thinks the other person is her whole world can never be wooed by any other person. But soon their relationship improved, and they became close friends. She saved his ass from time to time during the missions and he was thankful for that.
He looked at her and felt proud of being her friend. Mark knew that a person like Angela who treats her relationships like gold would never open her heart to anyone who she does not trust. He was proud of the fact that he was able to do so.
It's hard for me to understand why you're looking at the flowers with such a serious expression. Enjoy these serious gestures with a smile. You are looking at the flower like you are on a shooting range." Nathan chuckled and was about to sip his coffee when he noticed her frown. It's a frown he's seen a number of times. That only appears when something is wrong.
"What is it? Is there something wrong with the flowers?" Mark stood up and came near her.
Angela took the flowers and showed them to Mark.
"They are roses. Nathan would never send them to me unless something was wrong."
What do you mean? Mark was puzzled as she looked at the roses and then at her tense face.
Angela stood up and looked at the card in her hand. He stared at it for some time and her face tensed a bit more. She turned towards him.
"Mark. I am going out for a bit. Don't tell anyone else I am out. Just tell them that I am in a meeting."
Angela picked up her gun from the table and hurriedly moved towards the door.
Mark could only nod and move out of her way. He knew that even if he asked she would not tell him.
For her, Nathan was her whole world. Anything that threatens that world will be destroyed by her even if it needs to be killed. He could not stop her but could only wait for her to turn to him for help.
Her mind was filled with only one thought as she rushed outside the FBI Building.
Nathan, Be safe and come back to me or I will burn this whole world till I find you
