"Mom, Dad, I'm going to Norway" David announced to his parents right at breakfast.
"What? After all, you just got back from there," his mother almost jumped up in surprise, or perhaps outrage.
"I know," admitted David, "but I have to do it. Gustav stayed because he has some problems, and I can't leave him alone with them. Mom, it's Gustav."
The woman took a deep breath, but didn't utter a word. I think she guessed what David meant.
Gustav was not famous in their home for his resourcefulness. He was no longer as terribly useless as he once was, his acquaintance with David had clearly changed him, but that didn't mean that he didn't need the presence of someone close to him, someone loved who would simply be there for him.
