"Did you arrive safely?"
Gustav sat on his antique bed, where he had not slept for several nights. It felt strangely familiar, like home. With his smartphone to his ear and a glass of alcohol in the other, he listened to the question of his friend Julius Linden.
"Yes," he replied. "He was in my house. He slept on the stairs."
"He? David?"
"Yes."
"And what did you feel when you saw him?"
Gustav felt a tightness in his throat. The sight of David caused a storm in him that he had not been able to calm down until now. He was doing his best not to show his emotions to David.
"As if I would like to see him always."
"And now?"
"As if I wanted to see him always and one more day. I'm afraid I made a mistake coming back here."
"It's natural to be afraid of rejection."
"No, Julius, I'm afraid of acceptance."
