Despite the not-quite-successful first date, David was not going to give up on meeting Greg. Greg apparently had no plans to break up either. Maybe he really liked David, or maybe, forced to live in this empty and boring province, he had no better alternative. David didn't think about it, although the question flashed through his mind. After all, he wasn't dating Greg himself for the sake of somehow liking him in particular.
But David wanted to like him. He approached Greg with a pure and open heart, forgiving him for his past transgressions. It will be good to grow something new, he thought like a true gardener. The seed for their relationship had been planted, now it would have to be properly fertilized, watered and nurtured once it germinated so that pests and diseases would not destroy it before it developed into a beautiful plant.
