Chapter 12 - Clay

We had just gotten off the phone with Alpha Denton a few hours ago, saying that he and the alpha from Waverly's pack would be here as soon as they could.

I paced back and forth in my wolf form as I waited for them to show when, finally, a loud howl outside echoed through the forest. It was Alpha Denton! He had arrived with my twin brothers Cole and Flint and 20 more people from the pack. We also had Waverly's stepdad Nanyuk, who is the Alpha of the Alaskan Guardian wolf pack, with 20 people from his pack to help fight.

I greeted my older brothers; I missed their sorry asses. It was good to have them here to fight alongside me.

Alpha Denton's jet-black wolf stepped forward with an unfamiliar arctic white wolf with feathers attached to long chains in each of his ears.

"Clayton, this is Alpha Hensley; he is Waverly's stepfather and the Alpha of the Yukon wolves."

I nodded toward the new alpha but obviously couldn't talk to him since our packs didn't have a blood bond.

"Please bring us to the Motherbear who runs this sleuth so we can strategize; I promise we will get her back soon," he promised as he followed me inside the magic veil that surrounded the sleuth village.

I could hear the members of both packs shifting to their human forms, preparing for the meeting with Motherbear.

Our group was led into a large circular room with several bears in it, all seated around a large fire pit in the middle. As we got closer to Motherbear, she rose from her seat and stepped forward to greet us with a warm embrace.

"Welcome to my home," she said softly, "It is an honor to have you here."

She nodded, acknowledging our presence before speaking in a deep, gravelly voice. "Welcome, Alpha Denton and Alpha Hensley; I have heard much about you both. We are honored by your visit."

Motherbear then gestured for us to sit down around a fire pit while she began to explain how their sleuth worked together as one unit when it came to matters of battle. She then went on to discuss strategy, mapping out how we could best approach Eve's rescue mission while minimizing risk to as many members of our tribes as possible.

For the next few days, we worked tirelessly, putting all our focus and energy into the rescue mission.

Finally, the day had arrived. We all gathered outside the Academy, where Eve was being held captive. Alpha Denton had informed us that there were guards posted outside the entrance and that we would need to take them out quietly before we could enter.

I looked around at the faces of my pack and saw the determination etched on each of them. We were ready for this… No…we had to do this….for Eve…and for all of Gurdian kind...

We stealthily made our way towards the entrance, and as we got closer, we could see the guards standing outside. Without hesitation, we pounced on them, taking them out before they could even scream.

We quickly made our way inside, taking out any guards that came our way. I could feel my wolf taking over, the need to protect my mate overpowering everything else.
