Chapter 66 - Refining Mundane Cores

Vor Eyes workstation had a particular beauty to it that impressed Dam Son. It wasn't that big but it had enough space to accommodate certain essential equipment needed for Wordsmiths to flourish. By the main desk was an array of newly developed booklets seamlessly intertwined with a series of portable Arcane Baths. Many thick tubes connected to these booklets ran directly into a larger immovable Arcane Bath located in the centre of the workstation. That was where the finished creation would usually emerge.

As he began the process of walking Dam Son through the refining of Raw Mundane Letters, Vor Eyes elaborated on the various tools, tips & trades he would be utilizing. He went over to a storage cabinet where Raw Mundane Letters were being refrigerated. "This is what they actually look like before processing."

"Wow, interesting. I've never seen one this close up before." After Vor Eyes brought the Raw Mundane Letter closer, Dam Son admired it closely. It was comprised of a spherical gelatinous substance which multiple glowing streaks were orbiting. Each of them possessed shifting symbols that would compress under pressure. Within the dead centre of the gelatinous body, a minute mixture of Letter Force could be seen. This was the driving force that kept the Raw Mundane Letter alive.

"Many people commonly call them Raw Mundane Letters, but among numerous branches of Wordsmith scholars, they are known as Mundane Cores. They are vastly propagated by Word Beasts. However, every living organism residing in Vocabular has a Mundane Core within them. Some or even lucky to possess more than one. This is most common within Word Beasts' unique physiology. Hence, they are wildly hunted by Word Masters to increase their strength. It's a savage method if you think about it, but that's just how Vocabular works. Ouch! My hands are starting to freeze. I'm going to set in down over there."

Vor Eyes nicely placed the cold Mundane Core into a contained chamber above the Arcane Bath where it could chill. Afterwards, he directed Dam Son to his workbench where the many booklets were set in place. "Now on to the refining process. Mundane Cores are usually quite durable, however, when submerged in an Arcane Bath they became more volatile. Not to the point where they will be displaced though, that process is usually done manually."

"Oh…" Dam Son kept a close eye on what Vor Eyes was doing, even his sapphire suitcase rolled closer to the ongoing procedure. "What do you do from here? Will the Mundane Core eventually melt after setting it into the Arcane Bath?"

Vor Eyes found Dam Son's question amusing. "No, silly. That would be too easy now wouldn't it?"

"I guess so."

"Let me explain the basic steps to follow in order to successfully refine Mundane Cores. Better yet, I'll walk you through it. Observe carefully." Vor Eyes operated a monitor on his main booklet screen which connected multiple tiny plugs to the chamber holding the Mundane Core in place. Next, he submerged it slowly in the special Arcane Bath.

"Allow the Mundane Core to sit for 20 minutes. The residual heat inside the Arcane Bath will soften its contours without destabilizing the Letter Force Nucleus. This process is very crucial. If the Letter Force Nucleus is destabilized in any way then it would result in an unstable or low-grade Mundane Letters."

"I see. So you're basically steaming it to softening it up." Dam Son surmised, "This is very similar to cooking."

"In a sense, yes it is." 20 minutes later, Vor Eyes continued his lesson. "The next step is to flood the bath with cool Superpower Letters. They will automatically attach themselves to the swollen parts of the Mundane Core to prevent it from bursting prematurely."

As he spoke, Vor Eyes did exactly what he said. This gave Dam Son a better learning experience. "When the curing process is finished, you must then apply a continuous amount of freshly crafted Decoding Script all around the Mundane Core until it is tightly sealed. This is where things get interesting and sometimes difficult for beginners."

"How so?" Dam Son wanted to know more.

Vor Eyes responded, "Well, the Decoding Scripts required to mask a Mundane Core of that size are usually around 142 three-by-ten strips. These strips have to all be freshly crafted in the same solution as the Mundane Core, otherwise, they won't be affected. Once the Mundane Core is perfectly sealed, the stigma within the Letter Force Nucleolus will be forced to release certain pollen that will gradually germinate the purified Mundane Letters. You'll see what that looks like in a minute."

"In a minute?" Dam Son was startled when he heard this. "I don't know much about crafting Decoding Scripts but I'm sure they are more difficult to create than a simple Library Sheet, so how will you craft all 142 strips within a minute?"

"Silly Dam Son…" Vor Eyes shook his head with a smile forming his lips. "When you start doing this as often as I have, the process becomes simpler along the way. Watch and learn."

After stretching his fingers, Vor Eyes summoned his Guide to aid him. Dam Son was surprised to discover that it was already at the Manuscript level. He wanted to ask Vor Eyes how long he had been studying at Raixom Academy but he reframed from doing so in order not to break his focus.

Calling out 4 special Powered Scripts from his Manuscript Guide, Vor Eyes quickly activated their properties. One of them assimilated with his magical booklets, the other two engaged his arms and the remaining one merged with his eyes. They were as applied respectively:

[Basic Wordsmith Script: CPU-Boost] (Activated) –50(SPL)

[Basic Wordsmith Script: Typewriting Boost] (Activated) –100(SPL)

[Basic Wordsmith Script: Anti-Finger-Breaker] (Activated) –110(SPL)

[Intermediate Wordsmith Script: BPP-Boost] (Activated) –200(SPL)

The CPU-Boost Script enhanced the processing power of Vor Eyes' booklets; also prevented them from overheating. The Anti-Finger-Breaker Script prevented his fingers from exploding under extreme pressure when the application of Typewriting Boost Script was in effect. As for the BPP-Boost Script, it boosted his brain processing power which enabled him to execute faster thought processing.

Dam Son watched as Vor Eyes began the next stage of refining the Mundane Core. As soon as his fingers graced the semi-liquid keys consisted within the booklet's portable keyboard, they started shifting about extremely fast. Dam Son could barely keep up with Vor Eyes' expert finger movements. Thus he directed his sight onto the huge Arcane Bath which hosted the Mundane Core. There, Dam Son witnessed a shocking reality.

One after the other, many three-by-ten Decoding Scripts were being crafted into existence, moreover, wrapping themselves around the idle Mundane Core. Just as Vor Eyes said he would, he completed the entire procedure within a minute.

Dam Son was simply amazed by this feat. "Wow, you're amazing, Vor Eyes."

"Don't praise me just yet. The Mundane Core is just about entering its final stage. You don't want to miss this part." Finished adding a few more adjustments to the booklet, Vor Eyes got up from his workbench and went closer to the Arcane Bath with Dam Son to witness the final phase of Mundane Core refinement.

Together they observed the sealed Mundane Core getting bigger and bigger as if it was about to pop. The multiple Decoding Scripts wrapped around its surfaces were being stretched to their utmost limit.

"Let me show you something cool." Vor Eyes directed Dam Son's sight to the interface he had displayed on his portable booklet. "This process is not usually seen by many." What he showed Dam Son was the inner working of the Mundane Core. Tiny cell formations began coagulating into numerous cohesive characters. This process continued until the swollen Mundane Core rose to the surface of the Arcane Bath then exploded.

The refined Mundane Letters that burst out of the core were getting sucked up into a processing chamber that arranged their attributes correctly. Certain Mundane Letters were better suited for a particular category of Word Mastery. The symbols with a slightly greyish hue were used overall for universal Powered Letters conversion. The red ones converted better as Magic Powered Letters; the blue ones converted better as Martial Arts Powered Letters; the green ones converted better as Augmented Powered Letters, and the white ones converted best as Superpower Letters.

Don't misunderstand, all Mundane Letters could be used as desired for any sort of Word Mastery conversion, however, some were better suited for some as explained above.
