Chapter 21 - Introduction To Guide Evolution

Dam Son arrived at Caromine Institute during the later period of Ms Enjoy's lessons. When he entered the classroom, all eyes were fixated on him. "Sorry for coming in so late, teacher. I overslept." He bowed apologetically.

"I figured that would be the reason. Go ahead and have a seat." Ms Enjoy gestured to Dam Son's desk in the middle. "You haven't missed anything important, I was just wrapping up the lesson on Library Creation."

"Then don't mind me." The students were still staring at Dam Son fixedly until he planted his behind in his seat.

"He seems taller for some reason, also, more handsome." Balloona who sat closer to the rear region of the class noticed that something had changed with Dam Son.

"Girl, what did you say just now?" Asked a neighbouring student whose type was of the ladybug Demi-Human variety.

"Ah, it's nothing, Trish." Balloona became flustered when she thought that her classmate had overheard her complimenting Dam Son's strapping physique. She hurriedly took her eyes away from Dam Son and focused on her lessons.

"Eyes on me, class. What I'm about to teach you will be a valuable lesson." Ms Enjoy commenced the next phase of her lessons. "How many of you know how to upgrade your Guides? For our general lesson, I will be instructing you on various ways of Guide evolution, along with the different Word Mastery levels."

Before coming to class, Dam Son had his Papyrus entered incognito mode because he didn't want the students to stare too much at his darkened Guide. "I am curious about this Kismet Coin but I'll focus on my lessons for now."

Teacher Enjoy summoned a downgraded Papyrus for her lesson's demonstration, moreover, she displayed a diagram on the clear board for every student to see. "Guides are Word Masters secondary lifeline. In other words, they share our growth acquired from our journeyed experiences. Without Guides, Word Masters evolvement would be that more difficult. In the ancient era, our ancestors used what we call Legendary Scrolls to utilize, moreover, store their abundance of knowledge.

These Legendary Scrolls were extraordinarily blessed scripts that could achieve wondrous exploits at the time. However, they were extremely limited in terms of storage, furthermore, they were extremely taxing to carry around all the time. Back then only our gifted ancestors could utilize Legendary Scrolls and their attributes. Due to this, many races across Vocabular weren't exposed to the power and sway words possessed. As such, they became vulnerable during the historical war against the evil forces of the Hellphabet. I'm sure many of you have already heard mentions of that dark period in Vocabular's history."

"The Hellphabet?" Dam Son remembered hearing something similar to this in the golden sheet of fragmented memories that he viewed earlier. "Could she be referring to the same thing?"

Other students conversed lowly about the altruistic behaviour of the famed Compass Guardians who had put a stop to the ancient Hellphabet's tyranny.

Ms Enjoy continued. "The aftermath of the memorable historical war left Vocabular's inhabitants with a great casualty. Many historians say that if the majority of Vocabular's inhabitants could have wielded the powers of Legendary Scrolls then the population wouldn't have gone down by 87%. This is merely their speculation from an objective viewpoint and I agree with them. To remedy this unequivocal deficiency of the past, the renowned Compass Guardians came together and created a universal tool that could enable regular folks to wield the power of Legendary Scrolls.

Sorry, let me rephrase that. It isn't quite accurate to say that they've perfectly reconstructed the era for ungifted folks to utilise Legendary Scrolls. More like they created an alternative close enough to mimic the potency of Legendary Scrolls. These scripts are now the fundamental resource that comprised all of our Guides. Few extensive tweaks have been added over the years, albeit they still aren't at the Legendary Scrolls' level. The closest we have ever gotten to emulating Legendary Scrolls are what we Word Masters called Tomes."

Dam Son reflected on Ms Enjoy's brief history lesson. "Oh, so that is how Guides like Papyrus came about. These Compass Guardians sound like extremely generous people."

"Fhm, shows just how little you know." Cinder Burn scoffed at Dam Son when she overheard him speaking fondly of the Compass Guardians. Dam Son wanted to ask her what she meant but Ms Enjoy spoke up before he could get a chance to.

"Now for the cream of the crop. How to upgrade Guides. They are plenty of ways to do this. I will be elaborating on the methods that I think are most suitable and most efficient for you. If what I explained doesn't suit your taste then you can always research other suitable methods online using the Interweb Script."

"Interweb Script? This sounds like something that I should take note of." Dam Son jotted down important information to look into later. Finished doing so, he gave his attention back to Ms Enjoy's lessons.

"The images that are displayed across your desk's screens depict certain methods that I will be teaching you. First thing first, let me inform you of the fundamental process of Guide upgrades. Basically, the evolution of your Guide mostly depends on the extent of your Vocabulary Pack. Raw Mundane Letters coupled with Superpower letters are the basic resources required. The implementation in which you apply these letters to your Guide as you advance in Word Mastery will determine the positive outcome of your Guide's evolution. Here are a few methods that we will be covering…"

Ms Enjoy introduced 3 methods of Guide evolution to her class. These were Stuffing While Growing; All In One Application and Incremental Procedure. Raw Mundane Letters were the most suitable evolutionary ingredient that was usually garnered from Magical Word Beasts. Dam Son made sure to memorize every single method and its use for the future.

Stuffing While Growing – A method where a Word Master set aside a certain amount of evolutionary ingredients that he/she administered randomly to their Guides over an irregular duration. This was good for the swift evolution of Guides but can hinder the growth of the user's Vocabulary Pack, moreover, restrict the number of scripts a Guide can activate simultaneously.

All In One Application – Word Masters stored a large sum of evolutionary ingredients which they administered to their Guides in one set interval. This method was effective for drastically boosting the user's Vocabulary Pack, however, their Guides might be unstable for an unknown period.

Incremental Procedure – This is the constant storing of evolutionary ingredients in a Guides Library; rigged to be administered at regular intervals. This method was effective for maintaining consistent stability in a Guide's evolution, however, it limited the maximum output of Powered Letters stored within a Vocabulary Pack.

"Hmm, which will be more suitable for me?" Dam Son gave this process some thought. As he pondered about the most effective method of Guide evolution, Ms Enjoy continued with her lessons.

"Settle down class. You have plenty of time to decide for yourself the method that best suits your taste. Later, I will further elaborate on the changes and benefits that occur with Guides' evolution. Soon your introductory sessions with the other Word Mastery instructors will commence. Before then, I will inform you of the various classes of Word Mastery."

Ms Enjoy changed the image that was being displayed on her students' desk screens. "They are 6 renowned classes that are used to define a Word Master's overall aptitudes. On your desk screens, they are organised in ascending tiers."
