*BOOOOOMMMMMM!!!*
Andrew felt the floor underneath his feet shake like a maximum category earthquake just unsolved, he hugged the panicked Clare while their cabin at the top of the fortune wheel shook like jingle bells at Christmas.
It didn't take long for the blonde girl to start shouting in panic and he very much so felt like doing that as well if not for the fact that the terrifying feeling within his heart -together with the humongous shadow that just landed not too far away from them- were taking over instead.
The smell of death started to spread, and those unlucky enough to be at the site of impact ceased to exist, just like that, for no apparent reason.
...
"What is going on!?"
"Quickly run! It is a terrorist attack!"
Panic and confusion were paramount, something had happened... people had died, corpses lay around, but nobody knew what exactly happened. An earthquake? or a bomb? everything was so sudden that all they could do was run like an ant colony in disarray.
Nobody could see the hideous soul eater right in front of them, the chains crashed heavily on the wooden platforms and soil, destroying everything seamlessly, reaping lives... without leaving a trace. Without saying a word and with a single hideous eye that looked like it belonged to the devil itself, he could tell...
Among these people who all looked the same, there weren't just humans. Ghosts, demons, evil spirits. He could distinguish them all as easily as sorting Peebles of different colours.
Adrift licked his tongue, emitting a darkening aura that only brought more despair to the fleeing ants, how could a predator not distinguish the difference between dishes?
Nevertheless, there was a particular one that caught all of his interest.
'The source of the penance aura, in that wheel'.
...
"Gloria!" Gaby -who had just recovered from the impact- looked at the awed Gloria who instead of having a panicked outlook, resembled a kid in Christmas, having fun and enjoying herself.
"Can you feel the power rushing in?~ so much fear... now I really must wonder... what exactly is a soul eater doing here, Adrift no less".
She stood there with shiny crimson eyes and swaying dark hair, regarding the despairing scenario like it was a performance theatre, for her it was like a fresh breeze in the form of overwhelming fear... one the likes can only be obtained by the despairing souls shrieking in the deepest hell.
Gaby, for her part, felt that same fear rush in and nourish her body, but she had spent enough time on the earth to at least be concerned.
"There is no time for that! There are people dying!"
Beatrice had already rushed off to the fortune wheel where Andrew was without even giving an explanation and no matter how much she looked around, Gaby couldn't see who aside from Gloria here would be able to stop this monster.
"So what? As long as nothing happens to Andrew, nothing else matters. Don't you think this is the perfect chance to see what the boy is all about?~ I sent Maya to do some recognition, but... I may be able to see it first ha-"
"You're such a selfish b*tch!" Gaby had enough, a deep part within her already knew that Gloria wasn't going to do anything, that was the type of woman she was.
A rare breed of the legendary demoness, a drought.
Gaby shot off without even wasting another droplet of saliva much to Gloria's chagrin who instead sat back down on her chair, regarding how a man tried to crawl away from his unrecognisable assailant.
She ignored him and crossed her legs, a cup of wine materialising in her hands like dark vapour.
"That's a desolate rank soul eater, Gaby... you're not ready. I guess I'll just let her do what she wants. Come on, Adrift... let me see how long you can stay in this world, how much penance aura does Andrew have?~".

Beatrice ran, but before she even noticed, someone picked her up with a swift motion.
!!!
"What!?"
Before she even knew, they were flying, Gaby had transformed into a... sexier version with green-goldish wings and curly horns. She now had makeup that aside from making her look sweet and seductive, also delivered a sharp contour worthy of a demon.
It was a demon right in front of her, but Beatrice's mind had just Andrew in it and what she was going to do to take them out of this situation. Gaby destroyed her hopes.
"Listen and listen well! you can't just run around like that! There is a gigantic monster here that you can't see and if you were just about to run underneath it, you'd have gotten squashed! There is absolutely nothing you can do here, human. I'll leave you in a safe place and you stay there, you hear me!?"
"But Andrew-!"
"I'll try to do something you just get out of here!"
With a swift motion, Gaby threw Beatrice like a ragdoll into an inflatable playground far away from Adrift. Leaving a deep sigh, Gaby then shot her gaze towards the assailant which she was completely sure she couldn't defeat.
"A desolate rank... but I have to do something or else... should I buy time for the paranormal scheme? but once they arrive they'll hunt me as well... leave for the underworld? what should I do...? protect Andrew? ugh! So much for thinking... I'll just do it!"
*WHOOOSH!*
The green-goldish energy enveloped her completely.
'So much for saving all this mana for centuries... in the end all wasted in the most ridiculous way possible because a goddam soul eater bastard that shouldn't even be here!'
She lost it.

With every step it took, people died... but Adrift didn't care.
"Finally free yet still shackled to limbo, hmph!".
*BOOOMMM!!!*
Like a beast trying to resist the shackling of the tamer, he used all of his energy but it only resulted in a single chain snapping, the one holding his right wrist.
"Ugh!" Adrift felt a huge backlash with the mere release of a single chain
"His gaze ended up fixing on the fortune wheel before snickering and walking forward".
"The source".
*BAAANGG!!*
The monster felt like something ruthlessly stroke it on its feet.
"An insect… wait even filthier, a succubus".
