Chapter 1 - I. Introduction

Cassie had always been different. She was a free spirit who loved to express herself through art, music, and poetry. She had a wild mane of curly hair, which she refused to tame, and a wardrobe full of eclectic clothes that didn't conform to any particular style. But despite her unconventional ways, Cassie was kind-hearted and gentle, always willing to help others in need.

One of Cassie's favorite places in the world was the park near her house. It was a quiet oasis in the middle of the bustling city, with tall trees, lush grass, and a tranquil pond where ducks and swans swam. Cassie loved to sit by the pond and write in her journal, watching the reflections of the clouds on the water and listening to the soothing sounds of nature.

But the park was also a place where Cassie felt the most vulnerable. She had been bullied and harassed there by other kids who didn't understand her, who thought she was weird or freaky. They would make fun of her clothes, her hair, her art, and her poetry, calling her names and pushing her around. Cassie tried to ignore them and focus on the beauty of the park, but their cruel words and actions hurt her deeply.

One day, Cassie was sitting by the pond, lost in her thoughts, when a group of teenagers approached her. They were the same kids who had been tormenting her for weeks, and Cassie knew they were up to no good. They circled around her, laughing and taunting her, and one of them pulled out a knife.

"What's wrong with you, Cassie?" one of them sneered. "Why can't you be like everyone else? You're such a freak."

Cassie tried to back away, but the teenagers closed in on her, their faces twisted with hatred.

"We're going to teach you a lesson, freak," one of them said, raising the knife.

Cassie screamed for help, but no one came. She knew she was going to die.

Possible speech for Cassie:

"Please, don't hurt me," Cassie pleaded, her voice trembling. "I didn't do anything to you. Why are you doing this?"

"Because you're different," one of the teenagers spat. "And we don't like different. We like normal."

"But why can't we all be different?" Cassie asked, her eyes filled with tears. "Why can't we all be who we are, without being afraid of each other?"

The teenagers laughed.

"That's not how the world works, freak," one of them said. "There are winners and losers, and you're a loser."

Cassie closed her eyes and braced herself for the inevitable. She felt a sharp pain in her chest, and then everything went black.
