Gia sat quietly in her usual corner of the store with her afternoon tea and a book. Lydia's eyes were brimming with tears; she had to wipe them away to see clearly. Martha and Xander were also present to bid their farewell.
"Baby Bowen, are you sure you can manage on your own?" Martha asked, her voice filled with concern.
"Auntie, I'm almost seven years old. I'll be celebrating my birthday in a month's time. Don't worry about me," Bowen reassured her, giving Martha a hug.
Martha nodded, ruffling Bowen's hair affectionately. "you too should write letters like Jago, okay?," she said.
"Don't forget your sister," Lydia added, still tearful.
"Come on, sis, you know why I'm going. Besides, I'll keep an eye on Luther for you," Bowen said winking.
Lydia pinched Bowen's cheeks lightly and hugged him tightly until he couldn't breathe.
"Our ride is ready, sir," Nicholas prompted Bowen during the farewell.
