The reason being Perrin was a seasoned warrior, and only due to his heightened senses could he keep up this far. He still had some time left before his real reaper mode kicked in, so he would have to prolong the fight until then.
Both of them ceased their previous clash and moved away from each other, keeping a distance of 4-5 feet. This signaled their intent to elevate the battle using mana. There was a significant gap between fighting with infused weapons and fighting without mana infusion. Once mana was infused into weapons like Perrin's mana iron-tiger claw or Bowen's Hell bone blade, they became one-shot kill tools. A single attack could sever limbs or claim lives. They had to exercise extreme caution, as a small mistake could cost them their lives.
