Chapter 8 - This is not good for the heart

Bowen started to read the detailed description about Nova's breathing technique he got from the beginners' gift pack.

System explanation

In grime sphere, the air is thick with particles that hold immense power. These particles are called mana particles, and they come in different types - pure mana, elemental mana, death mana, soul mana particles, to name a few. These particles have the ability to grant incredible abilities to those who are able to store them within their body.

But not just anyone can store mana particles. It takes cultivation of a special vessel known as the mana vessel to store the particles as mana liquid. Without this vessel, there's no point in breathing in mana particles as they won't be stored in the body. Those who have successfully cultivated a full mana vessel are considered awakened, and they possess abilities beyond the ordinary. There are five categories of mana vessels - normal, blessed, spiritual, emperor, and celestial - and the type of vessel one possesses greatly affects their cultivation process.

Most people can only cultivate a normal mana vessel, which can only turn a small amount of pure mana into mana liquid for use. Other mana particles are stored along with it, creating mixed mana, which is inefficient for cultivation.

But imagine having a blessed mana vessel, which can only be achieved by one in every 10,000 awakened individuals. This vessel has the ability to expel impure mana from the body and turn only the needed mana particles into mana liquid.

And then there's the spiritual mana vessel, which is seen in only one in a million people. This vessel can store more than one type of mana, granting the cultivator multiple abilities, while also expelling all incompatible mana from the body.

The emperor mana vessel is even rarer, with only a few people known to have cultivated it. Its effects are a closely guarded secret

But the pinnacle of all mana vessels is the celestial mana vessel. No one has ever seen someone build one to the point where its existence is considered a legend. And that's where Nova's breathing technique comes in. This technique can aid in cultivating the celestial mana vessel. It's said that every heaven celestial has one, and it has the ability to absorb all types of mana particles. With this, one type of mana can be converted to another. Even impure mana particles can be diluted, converted, or stored, and it has the potential to improve the quality of particles absorbed. In fact, there's even a minuscule chance that it can convert other mana into divine mana, which is only available in immortal worlds and heavens.

Bowen just wanted to stand up and dance to a rock beat now. Instead, he immediately started cultivating by breathing according to Nova's technique. It was a technique where Bowen didn't need to sit straight or be in a lotus position. With experience, one could even use it when they normally do their daily activities. It saved him from others' eyes; otherwise, it would be weird for a 6-year-old child who has not gone to proper cultivation lessons to start meditating in the middle of healing an injury. Soon, the moon hung up high in the place of the morning sun. Externally, little Bowen seemed to be deep in sleep, but when he finally opened his eyes, there was a transparent blue glaze over his golden eyeballs that could only be found by an expert. He has successfully built a small part of the celestial mana vessel. When he held his palms up, small light blue mana particles gathered to form an improper cluster but soon got scattered. Nevertheless, there was a big smile plastered on the beautiful child's face, for he has achieved something in a few hours that would usually take months and years for others to achieve, even if they want to build a normal mana vessel.

Bowen was gloating over the change in his status panel when something caught his eye.

"System, what are these titles? And why does my intelligence stat have (+20)?" asked Bowen.

"Titles are given based on the host's behavior and achievements. Each title has a certain effect," replied the system.

Naughty rascal - Host seemed to have been a troublesome child for your mother before you got back your memories, hence the name. Effect: 50% greater chance for Miss Felina and villagers to doubt and punish you.

Filial son - Host has bravely saved your mother respecting father's words risking your life. Effect: 50% greater chance for the host to have a positive impression among the villagers of Barn. 100% chance for Felina to be overprotective."

After reading all the nonsense, Bowen had only one thing to say, rubbing his hands,

"Professional thief is not so bad...he..hee..."

System : ---- ???

"The (+20) intelligence stat of the host is from the memories of your previous life," explained the system.

"So you are saying I have the intelligence of an adult even though I am a child now?"

"Host's intelligence stat is high even among normal (unawakened) adults. This is because the host was a genius in your previous life."

Some crazy idea suddenly struck Bowen, and he immediately started to look around him. He slowly went towards the only window which served as ventilation for the hut. Gulp Nervously, he slowly opened them just making a small gap, as he could not afford to open them fully and wake his parents from their good night's sleep. Ten seconds, just ten seconds, he let his eyes roam through the night view. He rushed to his tattered leather notebook, which was the only book in his house, and with something that seemed like a piece of coal, started to draw. In a few minutes, the blank page was filled with sketches and markings. It exactly showed the number of houses with and without lights, trees, plants, and distance between them. The cat and two dogs, the man who was going out for his natural call, even the number of steps the man had taken within the ten seconds. The fly of a night bird that seemed like half bat and half owl and many other details that gave a complete view of the scenery outside his window was now on a piece of paper.

"OMG... My photographic memory," Bowen exclaimed as silently as he could. He was almost moved to tears.

Of course, he would. In his previous life, this was his most treasured talent. He skipped several grades and held the first position even among his seniors due to the possession of this talent. He was definitely sure it would be more helpful in this life than his previous one. Consider how many magic and cultivation books he could memorize in this life. There is no need for a GPS or map for he could always remember a place and the way if he could travel there once. There are still many areas he could apply this talent. Moreover, if he could improve his intelligence stat... Well, even if he wanted to become a walking encyclopedia or a video recorder, none can stop him.

...Beep beep…

***Ting! Congrats to the host on completing your first hidden mission.***
