The result of the bout was not surprising to anyone, but Leo's improvement shocked everyone.
Leonard had proclaimed himself as Eidikos's rival and has been training day and night ever since he met the fellow welterweight. Although he was extremely talented, like every other amateur welterweight he has lived in the shadow of the genius Eidikos Avenoir.
After the fight, Leo was carried out on a stretcher and Eddy did cardio for the rest of the training session.
Storm finished teaching Kiko all the basic movements and left him to gradually improve with Coach Azure.
5PM
As Kiko was working the punching pads with Azure, the coach stopped to make an announcement.
"As per our usual tradition, we'll be going out to dinner with the other 3 top clubs of the school tonight."
Kiko stood still and looked at the coach.
"Tradition?"
"It's the beginning of pre-season, so we're having a dinner with the clubs: girls' volleyball, basketball, gaming, and our club."
"I see."
"This year we're going to Joanne's Barbecue."
"Yeah!"
Most of the club members began cheering ecstatically.
'Joanne's?' Kiko had never been.
After everyone finished packing up everyone lined up near the door and began walking out.
"You not coming Kiko?" Hulk turned to Kiko who was standing near a heavy bag in a traditional stance.
"I'll be there in a bit, I wanna try something before I leave."
"K, don't be too long, or we'll finish all the meat."
"I'll be there by 6."
In the hallway of the gymnasium were two siblings one was a first year and the other was a fifth year.
"Elder brother, tomorrow when pre-season starts... will you watch me fight?"
"Percy, I've told you time and time again. You aren't cut out for boxing, quit." Eddy replied in an annoyed tone.
"Slowly but surely, I'm catching up to you..." Percy claimed proudly to his elder brother.
"Percy, you aren't even the most talented boxer in the first year. Don't be silly. You couldn't hope to compare to me." The elder brother's comment was said calmly and nonchalantly he didn't say it to hurt his brother but rather as it was an obvious fact like 1+1=2
"Kiko Tensei? He may be faster but there's no way you think he is better than me, right?"
Percy almost burst out laughing upon hearing the ridiculous statement.
"Then you're more ignorant than expected... see for yourself." Eddy pointed at the slightly opened door to the gymnasium.
'What's he talking about?'
As he peaked through the door the first year was shocked.
{While the Avenoir brothers were speaking.}
After his club members had left, the youth stood in a traditional stance hopping on his toes.
"Hmm, I wonder how he did it. His legs were switched, and his arms were in this position. Then he-"
Kiko switched to a sloppy southpaw stance.
"This isn't quite it."
He began throwing jabs with his right hand, the speed was way faster than the ones he usually threw with his right and more powerful.
"Hmm... although these are better than the ones I usually throw. I wonder how my straights compare."
He threw a poor straight with the balance and shifting of weight in his body being slightly off.
"So, in exchange for better speed, accuracy, and strength in my jabs; my straights suffer. Well since my straights aren't that powerful, to begin with, it isn't that bad. "
Kiko threw more attacks in successive combos this time incorporating hooks.
"But with my right hand being my lead my lead hooks are more explosive, and my left being my rear allows it to generate more force than usual although it will be slower."
"So to improve, I'll work on my left-hand coordination and continue my strength training to be pseudo-ambidextrous. But that won't cut it..."
The youth kept practicing the southpaw stance gradually increasing his coordination at a respectable speed.
As Kiko was training vigorously Percy watched him before he stopped and spoke to his brother.
"So, he is merely mimicking you? What's so special." Percy scoffed.
"You still don't get it, do you? That boy's talent isn't merely his speed. If you still don't understand that it's too late for you. See you at Dinner."
Eddy turned to go to dinner while Percy stood there pondering what the scarlet-eyed youth's 'true talent' was.
6PM
The restaurant was large and consisted of multiple levels.
Kiko walked into the large lobby and glanced around and was amazed.
The lobby was made of white marble and its tiles were so clean you could eat off of it. The pillars were tall and incredibly thick with cameras.
Kiko walked up to the reception desk and looked at the receptionist.
She was an elegant lady wearing a tight-fitted red dress revealing her stunning figure. She had green enchanting eyes that would swallow most and long wavy brunette hair.
'She's pretty.'
The youth internally thought. Although he rarely thought about romance, who's to say that you can't point out someone's beauty.
'Oh god, am I becoming like Nathaniel.' He sighed.
"So do you have a reservation?"
"St Winter's Highschool. Top 4 clubs." Kiko quickly replied.
"Is your name on the list?"
"It should be, Kiko Tensei. First-year."
"Room 47, level 5."
She said and pointed as she pointed at the elevator.
"Thanks."
'Something's strange about that kid.'
The reserved room was large and consisted of 2 tables 1 extremely large one with 57 students who sat with their clubs and the other one sat with 7 coaches on Mon.
Boxing -17
Basketball- 12
Gaming-8
volleyball- 9
With each club having 3 assistants each.
The room had a red carpet and white clean walls; the large table where the students sat had multiple plates of raw meat and 8 built-in electronic grills for everyone to grill their own food.
Everyone had begun eating happily and were having multiple different conversations when they were interrupted by the door when it swung open as the last member of the boxing club finally walked in.
"Sorry for being late." A red-eyed teenage boy walked in and glanced around.
'Wow, smells amazing.'
Every single athlete in the room turned to face the boy and various thoughts crossed their minds.
'What club is he from?'
'I've never seen him before.'
'Why's he wearing contacts?'
And many more.
"Kiko! Come sit here." Hulk patted the part of the large couch which was next to him as he welcomed his junior.
"Thanks." Kiko accepted the offer and went to sit down.
"You finally decided to join our first year." Jerry, who sat next to Kiko wrapped his arm around his neck playfully.
"Yeah. It took a bit longer than expected."
"What were you working on?" Hulk asked curiously
"Ahhh!Let's not talk boxing at supper." Jerry complained as he grilled more meat.
"Oh Kiko, apparently there is someone here who was in your class, in middle school." Drako extended his head, turned his head, and looked at him.
"Hm? Who?" The first year looked around the table for someone he recognized.
"Skylar?" Drako turned to a tall, short-haired volleyball player who was sitting opposite Percy, who was sitting near the end of the table.
'Who the hell is that?' Kiko thought.
"Hm? Wha-" Skylar paused her conversation with her teammates to answer Drako when she set her eyes on Kiko.
"Tensei, I thought you weren't into social gatherings?" She noticed her old classmate and asked curiously.
"Eh? I'm not opposed to them, especially when there's free food." Kiko nonchalantly answered before sticking another piece of meat in his mouth.
'I've never seen her before?' Kiko was extremely confused but he just carried on speaking to the pretty girl.
"This isn't free, but we are getting a discount. "
"Ehhh?"
'I left my wallet in my locker, plus this place seems fucking expensive...'
"pfft...Don't tell me you didn't bring your wallet?" Skylar started laughing softly.
'What the hell is wrong with her, does this seem like a laughing matter?'
"Maybe they'll let you wash the dishes." She teased again before she started giggling even more.
"Or I can ru-" Kiko's devious idea was interrupted by the intense argument between Hubris and the vice-captain of the basketball club.
"Do you really think your club is better than ours? You're all nothing more than a bunch of brutes."
"Here we go again." A member of the boxing club complained.
The vice-captain of the basketball club Hagan Aristevo shouted at his twin.
Hagan was the same height as Hubris had long blonde hair and green eyes, he showed no resemblance to his elder twin.
Although he didn't have piercings like his brother they both had the same vibe and were equally as attractive and built.
"Heh, you basketball players cry after being lightly shoved. You couldn't compare to us." Hubris laughed mockingly.
"Arguing for second place, are we?" Ava, the captain of the volleyball club interrupted.
Ava Small was a 4th year who was: tall, and had shoulder-length brown curly hair and olive skin, wherever she walked people would turn their heads to look at her to admire her long legs and pretty face. All through her life, she had been told to become a model instead of pursuing her dreams instead of becoming a volleyball player, but being the stubborn and fiery person she is, she refused.
"Since when were you first?" Jacob vice-captain of the gaming club mocked as he pushed his glasses up.
Through the mid-2000s gaming had been revolutionized thanks to the birth of VR, and thanks to this technological development gone were the days where games were solely played sitting down for hours. Now games were primarily VR and had become a legitimate sport.
Jacob had trained his body all his life and dedicated it to VR gaming thanks to this he had reached the pique physique for his age.
