"Nid, what are you doing? Have you had breakfast and lunch?" Lavanya asked in a slightly sad tone.
Nidia figured Lavanya might still be upset about something from her past. She asked carefully, "I'm still at my place, Ms. Stone. I have eaten both meals. Is there anything you want to tell me?"
Nidia knew that Lavanya liked spending time with her.
She wanted to console Lavanya as she seemed to be feeling particularly down.
However, Nidia had no energy left for anything else that day.
Surprisingly, Nidia sounded like her usual self. That made Lavanya wonder if Nidia was really fine or just extremely good at pretending.
"There's nothing in particular. I was just worried about you as I heard about what's going on between you and Jackson," Lavanya replied slowly.
She was making her way through the Imperial District airport and almost spilled out her secret. She nearly referred to Nidia as her daughter.
