The door opened as Jackson walked in.
Nidia turned from where she was sitting on the couch to see Jackson walking in. He was skinnier than she had remembered. His height and muscles made it hard for one to determine if he got skinnier but she knew he had lost weight as his features became even sharper.
As he appeared in her line of sight, he walked closer until all of Nidia's view of the screen was blocked. Raising his hand, he gently caressed the top of her head. "Why are you still up watching television with the lights off? Are you planning to hurt your eyes?"
Voice activating the switches, Jackson had all the lights on the ground floor turned on.
With the lights on, everything became clearer for Nidia.
The man in front of her with heavy and endless responsibilities on his shoulders.
Derek, who was waiting for every opportunity to test her trust in him.
