Maybe something Glen said triggered Rina's memories, or maybe it was his tears of sorrow that flowed down his face, but her fingers started shaking and she loosened her grip.
"I'm no longer who I was before, and neither are you," said Rina, albeit indifferently.
"You are so cruel now; so cruel that I no longer seem to know you."
Glen stared blankly at the girl in front of him. His mind was filled with images of Rina from their childhood days, and also the Rina after they'd grown up. But the sweet and gentle girl back then was nothing like the cold and emotionless Rina now.
No one hated Derek more than he did, except maybe Nidia and Jackson.
Glen gagged from the shortness of breath, and said hoarsely, "Rina, tell me... What else could I have done? Not listening to your grandfather, and leave my family to die in jail? Don't you think that's just as cruel to my family!" He looked into Rina's eyes, his gaze full of desperation.
