Even when Nidia's knuckles were starting to grow red, Jackson didn't seem to want to stop. They actually managed to reach the first floor in the span of a few minutes.
"Haven't you pestered me enough yesterday? Why are you doing this again? Are you trying to kill me?" Nidia complained.
Thud!
A sudden noise came from the stairway.
Jackson stood still. At that moment, both he and Nidia were almost at the exit. He turned his gaze towards the stairway on the first floor.
The stairway remained silent even after a long time. Nothing else happened.
"It might've been a rat." Jackson said softly to himself and pushed open the door, carrying Nidia out of the building.
When she heard the door close behind them, Sophia took a few gulps of air, anxious.
She was close to a mental breakdown.
