Chapter 27 - Thin Line Mirror

"Thank you Willie for answering very well. You are really a smart kid! Here are some candies for you. Don't eat all of them, please share them with your other friends too" Madam Yeva took out three candies from her bag.

"Hehe sorry Willie, I didn't bring candy but you can have this juice" Madam Alera gave boxed juice.

"Candy and juice can make you sick, that's why I'm going to give you this! Go to the infirmary often, okay" Madam Judy handed over three bottles of milk.

"Hehehe… thanks Madam Yeva, Madam Alera, and Madam Judy!" Willie happily embraced all the gifts from the three madams.

When he is summoned to the Judgment room, Willie is so scared he almost faints. Facing the Judges' Throne before him, Willie could only cower with a pale face.

But Madam Alera's gentle smile and Madam Judy who always helped him made Willie calmer. He began to give answers smoothly even though his voice was still stuttering.

In the end, Willie managed to finish the question and answer session smoothly and he got gifts from all three madams for his efforts. Willie became cheerful and no longer pale-faced, he began to dare to glance at the other two Judges' Throne.

Although Sister Yudith's face was still cold and stiff, she still gave Willie a nod, "Willie, you've answered all of our questions, you've done well. I hope you don't misbehave anymore and start to change for the better."

Sister Yudith gave Willie a snack which made it more difficult for Willie to carry the gift in his arms. Although still feeling scared, Willie bravely thanked Sister Yudith.

"You are a brave child Willie, when you grow up you will definitely be a hero." Mr. Andrew's stiff face turned into a smile. He tapped Willie's shoulder lightly and handed him a chocolate bar.

"Thank you, Mr. Andrew!!" Willie was so happy with Mr. Andrew, he began to imagine that when he grew up he would be a hero.

Willie once again thanked those on the Judges' Throne. With happy steps and a smile plastered on his face, Willie walked out of the Judgment room. Starting today, his fear of the Judgment room began to decrease and he promised to be a better boy.

Outside the room, Del and Kylia were waiting for his arrival. Willie should have been interrogated before Kylia but he was so scared he almost fainted. As a result, Kylia, who was a new "orphan", had to enter the Judgment room first.

"Del!!.. hehehe... I got a present.. hehehe... let's eat together!" Willie wanted to wave his hand but both of them were full to hold the gift he just got.

"Later… Let's go!" as usual Del replied curtly.

With their pinkies still linked, Del and Kylia walked away. Willie followed behind them with a stupid smile still plastered on his face.

After getting to a place quite far from the Judgment room, Del stopped and checked to see if there was anyone else around them. Del had memorized all the CCTV locations in the Flower Garden Orphanage, so if there was no change then Del could hide what he wanted to keep secret from the staff in the monitor room.

"Willie, tell me what questions you were asked and how you answered them!" Del said in a commanding tone.

"Eh… Why?"

"Just tell me. Do you want to go against my orders?"

"eeehhh… I don't want to disobey Del… but… but… Madam Yeva said not to tell anyone…"

"Shut the fuck up! Tell me everything and I'll give the gifts I got to you!" Del easily read Willie's thoughts.

"I'll also give you my present, Willie, come on, tell us quickly. No one will hear but the three of us. Aren't we friends, there are no secrets between friends?" Kylia slyly urged the innocent Willie.

"eehhh… ahh.. Okay… but.. but… Do you promise to give all the presents you got to me?"

"Promise"

"Promise"

Del and Kylia nodded simultaneously as if they had the same thoughts.

"OK"

Willie recounted all the questions the Judges' Throne had asked and the answers he had given. Even though Willie had below-average intelligence, he had a strong memory to the point he was able to compete with Del's eidetic memory.

The results were exactly what Del had predicted. The Judges' Throne only asked Willie about the activities he did yesterday afternoon. Frank who liked to bully Willie was not a secret anymore, many Sisters knew about it but they just kept quiet because Frank never did anything excessive.

Reasonable quarrels between the orphanage children would be allowed by the sisters because if they interfere too much it will have an impact on the mentality of the children. Those who were always helped when they were children would become someone who was weak when they grew up.

The answer that Willie gave was also satisfying, Willie didn't know much and only told what he knew without speculating at all. However, Del was not surprised by this because he had considered Willie's character and ability to read the situation.

Actually, Del was more worried about Kylia than Willie. Even though Kylia was his fate companion, their closeness was only due to their body compatibility. Del knew that Kylia was a smart child, so it was not impossible to suspect one or two things.

However, Del did not brief Kylia before her interrogation, this was not only because it would look more suspicious, but also because Del wanted to put his trust in Kylia. And the results were very satisfying, Kylia not only gave a convincing answer but she also strengthened Del's alibi.

Kylia emphasized implicitly that she was the one who asked to clean the book room and she was also the one who was very tired and wanted to get out of the stuffy book room. The two of them really had one mind, Kylia knew what Del wanted without him having to tell her.

With the end of Willie's interrogation, all suspicions about Del would disappear by themselves. Del firmly believed that the Judges' Throne would never think that Frank's death was Del's murder.

Even if they suspect that the deaths of Frank and the other three orphans were not an accident, then today Del was free from the list of suspects. After all, who would have thought that a five-year-old child could devise such a perfect assassination plan?

"Kylia, let's go back to the study room. We will continue with your basic math lessons."

"Okay…" Kylia nodded impatiently. Even though Del was not very good at teaching, she could understand it more easily.

"EEEEE studying again? Del let's play the slides."

"Shut up you stupid! Kylia has a bright future not like you" forgetting the whining Willie, Del, and Kylia walked hand in hand toward the study room.

"Ah! Del, Kylia... wait for me!"

------------------------------------

"Well.. What do you all think?" Madam Yeva opened her mouth when there were only five of them in the room.

"I think it's just an accident" Mr. Andrew was the first to answer.

Madam Alera and Madam Judy only nodded in the same opinion as Mr. Andrew.

"To suspect Del, a five-year-old child, as the murderer from the start was already a mistake! How could you possibly think this was Del's doing!" Sister Yudith said in the same cold voice but there was obvious rudeness in her intonation.

She glanced at Madam Judy with a punishing gaze. The first person who suspected Del was Madam Judy, this was because she heard Elish's suspicions and Del and Frank's fight in the sleeping room.

It was inconceivable that Madam Judy, who always supported the orphans during the interrogation process, was the person who had the most suspicions about them. Meanwhile, Sister Judith, who always sounded cold and threatening, was the one who trusted them the most.

Even though Madam Judy's image had always been good and Sister Yudith was the most feared person in the eyes of the orphans, no one knew them well. As people say evil and good were just two twins separated by a thin line mirror.

"Huft... Sister Yudith, don't blame Madam Judy too much. Del is a child who is a once in a millennium genius . This incident was indeed just an accident, but Del is not free from suspicion because he has a direct relationship with the case. Even though we didn't suspect it from the start, it is natural that we summon him to inquire about it." Madam Yeva tried to quell Sister Yudith's anger with these words.

"Huft!" Sister Yudith chose to be silent.

"We were fortunate to only lose Frank and three other children, all four of whom were children with last names. They also had no special advantages that would make them desirable to their families again." Madam Alera showed the bright side of this incident.

"Stop talking like they are goods that can be traded!" Sister Yudith's anger, which had begun to fade, surged again. Her eyes stared coldly at Madam Alera. Mr. Andrew's eyebrows also raised in displeasure at what Madam Alera said.

"Okay.. okay.. stop!" Madam Yeva snapped at the table before things escalated.

Sister Yudith and Mr. Andrew tried to sit back quietly in their chairs. The Judgment room fell silent for a moment before Madam Judy suddenly asked.

"However… Is your story about Del and Kylia true Madam Yeva?"

"That's right, I also don't understand what's really going on. Julia Blume is also acting so weird that it makes the hairs on my neck stand up,"

Until now, Madam Yeva was still unable to forget and explain the events that occurred in her office yesterday afternoon. Del, who suddenly fell in love with Kylia, and Julia, who ranted strangely about Fate Companion.

"I heard rumors… maybe—"

"Do you still believe in demons and supernatural things at this time, Madam Judy?" Madam Alera snorted, interrupting Madam Judy's words.

"Well.. maybe there was a special substance that the girl used as perfume to hypnotize Del" Madam Judy tried to defend herself with reasons that didn't make any sense.

No one commented on Madam Judy's desperate attempt to save her face. If there was a hypnotic substance in Kylia's body then Madam Judy and Julia who were in the room would also be affected. But in reality, Madam Yeva still felt disgusted after seeing Kylia's hideous face.

"Del is a unique child, so it's only natural that he likes Kylia, who is also unique," Sister Yudith gave an explanation that she believed from the bottom of her heart.

Again no one wanted to comment and the Judgment room fell into silence again.

"Hmm… hmm… Then we can agree that this case was an accident" Madam Yeva returned the focus of the atmosphere and tapped her gavel.

"Mr. Andrew, call the officers to renovate the book room, that place has been neglected for too long. We have to show effort to the sponsors to make sure this doesn't happen again."

Mr. Andrew just nodded his head when he heard Madam Yeva's order.
