The hunters hurdling against each other in a defensive circle held their weapons at the ready. Even Darius looked menacing standing beside powerful figures, brandishing his spear just like he'd been taught by the prince of phoenixes.
The sounds coming into Arthur's ears were intensely magnified, getting higher than he'd ever thought them possible.
Fear gripped every fibre of his being, his eyes darting about the empty clearing. Despite the clear proof that they were alone, Arthur kept his guard up.
Something had hit him in that moment he'd acted out on his own…
