Momo stopped firing her arrows at the sound of the professor's voice. The bowstring of the compound bow snapped back in place with a resonant twang.
Since she'd removed the arrow, nothing was fired.
The archer fell on her knees and heaved a heavy sigh, staring out with a ghastly expression towards a pair of stark white horns that jutted out of the plain green tapestry.
Black smoke poured off the sides of a golden sphere of spinning rune circles. The Dupli-Apes had stopped attacking them, vanishing all at once.
"You okay?" a dark-haired boy with a pale complexion asked as he let his hands fall to his sides.
The glowing amber spinning disks began to slow before dissipating completely.
Sweat dripped down the Warlock's forehead but he kept his cool, hiding the light pangs of exhaustion within him.
Momo nodded gently but the archer's face remained pinned to the distant battlefield.
"Then what's wrong? We won, didn't we?" Darius asked.
