Silver launched into the fray, his golden rapier slashing left and right at the slithering coils of the basilisk before he even reached the serpent.
The compressed wind slices glanced off the creature's scales, amounting to nothing more than a tickle… or at least a trickle of blood.
Nevertheless, it was an attack more powerful than anything his fellow panicking hunters had been able to inflict against their serpentine foe.
Sensing the arrival of a new threat, the basilisk's slithering head took a sharp turn, avoiding a frightened shivering girl holding up a pair of uniquely curved blades in front of her with her eyes closed.
The serpent's coils rammed into her and launched away from the scene of the battle with a violent jerk.
Now the snake was rushing forward, heading for one creature in particular… Silver.
