When they got to the rock, Dorry sat the three of them down before she started building a fire and cutting up the dinosaurs. Luffy decided to help him speed up the process, and then Luffy spoke.
"Dorry," said Luffy loudly for her to hear, "Why don't you let me start the fire while you prepare the meat?" Luffy said as he walked over to the large pile of wood.
"Gegyagyagyagyagya!" he said in a happy voice before stepping aside and making Luffy start a fire.
"It's the least I can do after everything you did to us for lunch," he said before he pointed with his right index finger at the kindling, causing a small bolt of lightning to appear and setting a small portion of the wood on fire.
Luffy repeated the process about five times on the five pieces of wood, causing them to catch fire as well. After about two minutes, the fire started, causing Luffy to nod in satisfaction before he walked backward toward Vivi and sat down on a log with her.
After Dorry finished cutting the meat, she put it on the fire to cook, then she sat in front of a giant rock and started talking to Luffy and Vivi.
"Master Dorry," Vivi said politely to the giant's attention. "How long will it take to reset the pose log on this island?" Vivi asked, causing Luffy to look at Dorry, wanting to know the answer as well.
"One whole year!" said Dorry with a smile that caused Luffy's eyes to widen and Vivi to faint.
"One year?" Luffy asked, causing Dorry to nod her head before she answered.
"Right, most people never last that one year," he said, causing Luffy to raise an eyebrow. "They usually die from the environment or from being eaten by animals," he said before turning the meat over the fire.
Luffy then sighed, rubbed his forehead, and started to think. He needed to get Vivi to Alabasta quickly to stop the war, or else he couldn't make Alabasta his territory, nor did he have any intention of waiting an entire year for that.
If he waited an entire year, there might not be any country left for him to turn into. He could have risked the possibility of flying to Alabasta alone, buying an eternal pose there, and then returning and sailing with the entire crew, but he didn't know how long it would take to find Alabasta.
"This problem is turning into a huge headache," Luffy said with a sigh as he started massaging his temples. Just then, Dorry took the meat from the fire and placed a large piece of dinosaur in front of the two of them.
"Eat, my friends," he said before grabbing another piece from the fire and biting into it. Luffy walked around the log and shook Vivi. He then took out his sword and cut two pieces of meat for himself and Karoo before cutting one for himself. Vivi took the piece from Luffy before looking at him with tears in her eyes. Luffy smiled at her as he put his hand on her shoulder before he spoke.
"Don't worry," said Luffy in a calm voice. "I said I would bring you home and stop the war, and I definitely would," Luffy said, causing Vivi to smile slightly before she nodded at him.
Luffy then sat down and took a bite of his flesh. "Dorry," said Luffy, attracting the giant's attention. "I don't mean to be intrusive, but why are you staying here alone?" "Don't you have a village as your home?" Luffy asked, causing Dorry to smile before she replied.
"I come from a village, the home of many warriors named Elbaf," he said while looking at Luffy. "It used to be a house, but I don't call it that anymore," he said, causing Luffy to raise an eyebrow.
"Why?" Luffy asked curiously why he left the giants' house.
"There are certain rules in Elbaf that must be obeyed," he said, letting Luffy understand. "For example, when a fight breaks out and neither side gives in, judgment will be handed over to the god Elba."
"Whoever he deems righteous will be declared victorious and granted safety and divine protection," he said before taking another bite.
"This place is a battlefield." "We have been fighting for a century, and Elbaf has yet to choose a champion, Gegyagyagyagya!" He said this caused Luffy's and Vivi's eyes to widen for two different reasons.
"Even with all the time in this world, wouldn't your desire lessen after a hundred years of doing the same battle?" Vivi asked while standing up. "At this point, is there any real animosity left between the two of you, or are you just struggling to fight?" Vivi asked, making both Dorry and Luffy laugh.
"He is a pacifist," thought Luffy to himself. Suddenly one of the volcanoes on the left erupted, causing everyone to look toward it.
"That was quite a powerful explosion," said Luffy as he bit into his flesh and stared at the volcano.
"Alright, it's time to go," Dorry said before she got up from her sitting position, causing Luffy and Vivi to look at her in confusion.
It was then that Luffy noticed something about Dorry: his whole demeanor changed; his eyes became cold; his smile disappeared; and his posture changed to that of a warrior getting ready for war. The volcano then erupted a second time before Dorry spoke.
"I'm sorry, but I have something to take care of," he said as he picked up his shield and sword. "That's the signal my opponent uses to mark the start of our fight," he said, causing Luffy to nod his head, indicating he understood.
"And why we fought... we don't remember, Gegyagyagyagya!" he said.
"This is nonsense." "How can you have so much hatred for someone that you can fight them for an entire century?" Vivi asked while looking at the towering giant. "What made you this angry?" Vivi asked, causing Luffy to cut her off.
"Vivi is enough," he said as he put his hand in front of Vivi's face, stopping him. "It's not a problem like that, okay?" Luffy said as he felt the ground start to shake.
"You're right..." "It's about honor," said Dorry as she narrowed her eyes at her approaching opponent before she made her way toward him.
Luffy and Vivi just watched as the two giants fought with two different reactions: Luffy watched in awe at the scale of the battle unfolding before them, while Vivi was disgusted at the fact that the two were fighting without any reason.
