Chereads / Thunder Demon: Strawhat Luffy (One Piece) / Chapter 60 - To the Little Garden

Chapter 60 - To the Little Garden

Luffy saw that Usopp and the others had finished fishing, and Sanji was now in the kitchen cooking the fish they had just caught. Zoro was still sleeping, Johnny was still on the watchtower looking around, and Luffy could hear Vivi's screams as Nami trained her on her observation haki. It was then that Sanji came out and announced that lunch was ready.

"Lunch is ready!" Sanji shouted, causing everyone to stop what they were doing and start walking towards the kitchen.

"Thank God, I'm starving," Johnny said as he climbed down from the lookout. Luffy got up from his throne and sent it through the sky before he headed to the kitchen. When he walked into the kitchen, Luffy walked straight to the table and sat down between Vivi and Nojiko. When everyone was seated, Sanji served everyone food while teasing the girls. Luffy poured himself some whisky before starting to eat.

"Nami, how much longer until we reach Little Garden?" Zoro asked while taking a bite of his food.

"I don't know," she said, causing everyone but Luffy to stop and stare at her with wide eyes.

"What?!" Usopp shouted. "How could you not know; you're a navigator, right!?" He shouted or asked, causing Nami to growl. She was about to scream at Usopp, but Luffy spoke before she could.

"Calm down, Usopp," said Luffy in a calm voice. "These are uncharted waters, so there's no sure way of knowing when we'll get there," said Luffy, defending Nami.

"Oh, sorry," Usopp said sheepishly while scratching the back of his head. Nami just snorted and returned to her food.

"Oh, and Nami," Luffy said, getting her attention. "This ship needs cleaning," Luffy said, causing Nami to look at him confused, wondering why he needed to clean the ship.

"Why should I?" Nami whined.

"Oh sweet Nami, did you forget about your punishment?" Luffy said with an evil smile, which caused a look of remembrance to cross Nami's face before she slumped in her seat and replied.

"Nooo," she said sadly, making everyone laugh while Vivi looked around confusedly.

"Don't worry, Vivi, I'll tell you later," Nojiko said, causing her to nod.

"I can't wait to get to Little Garden!" Usopp said in a pleased voice. "I can see the ladies of Little Garden are lining up to meet the great Captain Usopp!" Usopp announced with his fork in the air.

"Seriously, they're all going to line up to meet me!" Sanji shouted at Usopp.

"I don't want to break your fun," said Luffy in a calm voice that caught their attention. "But there are no humans in Little Garden," he said, shocking everyone.

"What!?" Shouted Sanji and Usopp. "If not humans, then what's on the island!?" they asked simultaneously.

"From what I've heard, it's a prehistoric island still stuck in the age of the dinosaurs," said Luffy calmly, as if it were nothing. Everyone stared at Luffy as if he were a madman. Usopp, Yosaku, Nami, and Vivi's faces turned white like paper; the food that Sanji was about to put in his mouth fell to the ground; Nojiko and Johnny froze stiff; while Zoro and Karoo continued to eat.

"Y-you're kidding, right?" Usopp asked in a scared voice. Luffy finished eating and downed his whisky before he answered.

"No, totally serious," said Luffy as he got up and took his plate to the sink.

"But how is that possible?" Nami stammered.

"Yes, dinosaurs are extinct," added Johnny. Luffy chuckled as he leaned against the wall before he answered.

"Welcome to the Grand Line," he said with a big smile.

"How can you be so calm!?" Vivi shouted at Luffy, which caused him to laugh again before he answered.

"You should relax, princess," said Luffy casually. "We'll keep you safe, so rest easy," he said.

"That's right, stay with me, Vivi; your knight in shining armour will protect you!" Sanji screamed with hearts in his eyes, causing everyone to sweat.

"Anyway," said Luffy, seriously getting everyone's attention. "When we get there, I want Zoro and Sanji to replenish our meat supply," Luffy said, causing them both to nod their heads in understanding.

"Aye, captain," they said together.

"Good, and now for the most important of all," Luffy said, causing everyone to lean towards him. "Under no circumstances are any of you allowed to touch any plant, insect, fruit, or any type of plant while we are on the island, understand?" he asked, causing the entire crew to nod.

"But why, brother Luffy?" Johnny asked, wondering why they couldn't touch the things.

"Because if you get infected by something on the island, the cure might not exist or isn't there anymore!" Luffy said he scared them all. "Is it clear?" Luffy asked, causing them all to nod quickly.

"Good, now, Nami, hurry up with your meal and clean up the boat," he said before he walked out of the kitchen.

[Time skip: two days later!]

"I saw an island!" Yosaku shouted from the watchtower to get everyone's attention. He decided to take on watch duty today so Johnny could relax a bit. Luffy was sitting on his throne, shouting orders for Nami, when he also saw the island that Yosaku was pointing at.

"Nami," Luffy said, getting her attention. "You are in charge from here on." "Take us in," Luffy said, causing Nami to smile before she looked at her pose log and then looked at the crew.

"Make no mistake, Cactus Island and this one are complete opposites," he said before gesturing towards the island. "This is our next stop!" Nami screamed, causing Usopp, Johnny, and Vivi Karoo's duck to start dancing and cheering. As the ship sailed closer to the island, the cheers stopped and turned to pleas to turn around immediately.

"What's so small about this island!?" Usopp shouted while sweating a little. Luffy decided to get up and stand with Nami as they approached the island. As he walked, he gave his throne a mental order to return to the sky before he spoke to Usopp.

"Usopp, have you forgotten what lives on that island?" Luffy asked as he walked over and stood next to Nami. Usopp thought about it for a moment before he looked at Nami and Luffy with faces as white as paper while shaking slightly.

"Can we skip this island?" Usopp stammered. "I bet we can get to the next island without landing on this one!" Usopp shouted. Luffy decided not to answer him; he let Nami answer Usopp's complaint.

"The only way to reset our log is to go ashore," Nami said with a sigh, placing her hands on her hips.

"Apart from that, we need to replenish our food supply," added Sanji while lighting a cigarette. "We don't get a sack of flour in the last town," he said, blowing out a smoke.

"Everyone," said Zoro, getting their attention. "There's an entrance ticket for us," he said, gesturing forward towards the island. Everyone looked where Zoro was pointing and saw a small river entering the island. Nojiko ran into the ship and took control of the rudder and, with Nami's guidance, managed to get the ship through the creek.
