Benjamin Clarke was taken inside Sharon Toll's office. When the other workers saw that he had left to discuss business, they also dispersed after taking pictures of him.
Sharon Toll welcomed Benjamin, "Mr. Clarke, it is a pleasure to meet you."
Benjamin waved his hands, "No need…no need…just treat me as a friend you have known for a very long time. All that fawning makes me uncomfortable."
He chose a place to sit, and from where he was, he could clearly see Cindy sitting at her desk. She was focused on something she was doing that she did not even look up.
Benjamin was suddenly intrigued, so he asked, "That lady…how long has she been working here?"
Joanna Bloom and Sharon Toll followed his gaze, and when they saw that it was Cindy, their faces changed from curious to disgust in a split second.
Sharon Toll disliked Cindy for a couple of reasons. Cindy had been brought here out of nowhere without a proper plan. She had received a call in the middle of the night that someone new was coming in and she needed to create space.
Daniel Owens was the one who had called, and there was no way she could defy his orders, so she accepted, and the next day, Cindy came in.
Sharon Toll's niece had already completed college, and Sharon Toll was looking forward to bringing her into the company, but her plans had been disrupted by Cindy!
Now her niece was pestering her as if she was the bad guy!
Joanna Bloom, on the other hand, hated Cindy naturally. The first time she saw Cindy, she was taken aback by the other's beauty, and jealousy immediately started to blind her heart.
Cindy did not wear any makeup or extravagant clothes, yet the men who fawned on Joanna Bloom in the company started to like Cindy instead.
This did not sit well with Joanna Bloom, who was used to people fawning over her. She also noticed once that Alexander Sterling had actually stared at Cindy and smiled!
This caused her to hate Cindy so much that her hate was almost pouring out!
Benjamin noticed the changes in their faces and smiled.
Joanna Bloom was the first to speak up, "Her? she is the new intern who was brought in recently. The company is not taking interns yet she was able to wiggle in at such a time! It is quite obvious how she was able to come in!"
Her tone was filled with disgust.
Sharon Toll also nodded and added, "I received a call from a person high up to fix her in, so it is only natural that she got this position by…"
Benjamin listened and almost laughed, but he held it in. From how these two women were speaking, they did not seem to like Cindy, and that is why they would even talk so badly behind her back like this.
From how they were speaking, it seemed as if they did not know that Cindy was actually acquainted with Alexander Sterling or that she could even be the madam of the whole company.
Benjamin sighed, "Oh really…that's very unfortunate then…"
Joanna Bloom smiled, and then turned the topic of discussion. She took out a portfolio full of designs and showed them to Benjamin, "These are the designs we came up with for you. You can pick some that you like, and we will see to it that it gets delivered on time."
Benjamin took the book, while Sharon Toll added, "Joanna Bloom's team has always been the best, and all of the other designs were also done by them. Do you want to…"
Before she could finish, Benjamin interrupted her, "I have been working with the same group all this while, so I think it is time for me to try something new."
Joanna Bloom's smile went stiff, "What do you mean by that?"
Benjamin looked towards Cindy and smiled subtly, "All the local events that I have gone to, I could not help but hear from others' mouths how I have the same style over and over again. I want to try something new so that they can see me in a new light!"
This was true. The designs Joanna Bloom's group made were very similar, and many people even asked if he was wearing the same suit over and over again.
Joanna Bloom's face froze, while Sharon Toll asked, "Do you want something different? I can have the team work to create others, so just tell us what you want…"
Benjamin smiled at her, "There is no need for all of that. If I want something different, then I have to work with someone different. That way, it would break the monotonous way of work that is going on here, so that woman…"
He pointed towards Cindy, "…does she have any team?"
Sharon Toll nodded, "Her team is not one of the best, and their designs are mediocre at least. So how about we…"
Benjamin cut her off, "I don't really want to work with them. This time around, I will be working with the team that came last in the competition. We are changing things up!"
Sharon Toll fidgeted uncomfortably, while Joanna Bloom looked displeased.
Sharon Toll could not say no to Benjamin because he was one of their biggest clients, and if they lost him, then the whole design department would be in big trouble.
Joanna Bloom tried to intervene, "Mr. Clarke, is there something that you want done differently? If so, then I will personally look into it and make changes on my own, so please…"
If Benjamin left their team, then she would become a laughingstock in the whole company, and that was something she could not afford to have happen, so she had to do everything to ensure Benjamin stayed.
Benjamin heard her and stopped. Joanna Bloom started feeling happy, but her smile was wiped away when Benjamin looked at Sharon Toll, "Please lead the way Miss Toll, I want to see the team I will be working with!"
