Janice was immobilized with fear. She managed to take in a deep breath just before her body plunged into the water. It was ice cold. The water was so cold that as soon as she dived into it she let out a sudden gasp, and the air she'd taken in escaped in lots of shiny little bubbles.
Janice quickly shut her mouth in an attempt to preserve what little air she now had left. This time she was the one clinging onto Darian's hand for dear life.
Darian could feel the familiar current of the water all around him. He was right. This was the lake. He quickly began to kick his legs. He didn't know how much air Janice had taken in so there was no saying how long she would last before running out of oxygen.
Janice could feel her chest and throat tightening almost painfully. She was beginning to run out of air. Soon she began to feel dizzy, and her already blurry vision was becoming even more minimal.
