Gilly rolled over on her bed. And then opened her eyes when she noticed Quande wasn’t sleeping beside her. She sat up and glanced at Quande who was busy reading at the table. She shifted her eyes to the wall clock. It was already a few minutes past six in the morning. She stretched her hands over her head and yawned. She stood up and hurried into the bathroom. She washed her face, then her teeth, and walked back into the bedroom.
She stared again at Quande from behind who had refused to look in her direction. She walked up to him and greeted him. “Good morning darling, hope you had a great night. Quite a surprise you are up already and busy too—busy with yesterday’s paper, I guess. What is in the news? Well, I just wanted to remind you it is time for our family prayers. The kids must get ready early for school to beat the morning traffic.”
Quande stood up and glared at her. “I’m afraid. I can’t join you in prayer this morning. You just go and—”
