The school day came to an end. We all rose to say our bids to our teacher.
"THANK YOU MRS.SATO!!" The class said with a smile upon each of their faces.
Once Mrs. Sato left the room, the room got extremely loud. Everyone was excited to start their weekend; go to the mall with their friends, catch up with people, and family gatherings.
All the things I couldn't do because I have extra classes… Luckily it's only for this week though. I saw my friend start to approach me, a light jog as if she was in a hurry.
"Hey Neoma!! Wanna walk home with us??"
"Ah, sorry I can't today. I have extra classes until 5:30."
"Awww, well I'll see you next week then, See ya!!" As Kiyoko said while jogging right back to the group of people.
I walked to the class and silently sat there as the teacher was turned to the board writing the curriculum for the day. Suddenly I felt a gust of wind, yet there were no windows open. I didn't think much of it so I just sat down and waited quietly.
3 hours felt like forever. Every time I looked at the clock above the board, the time felt infinite.
The teacher started to wrap things up as the time hit 5:25. And I forgot the bus stop was 30 minutes away and the Bus arrives at 6. As me and the other students said goodbye to the teacher, I lightly ran down the halls to my locker and right out the school.
This was the last bus of the day and I didn't want to walk home. People have gone missing throughout the area recently so it wouldn't be safe, especially alone.
My parents are working late too, so I'll be home alone for the time being.
Sooner or later, I approached the Bus stop just in time. I saw the bus rolling up to the sign and I noticed that the design changed, which seemed odd since they've had the old design for years.
I walked on to the bus to see a man sitting at the back, with a stuffed animal that looked like a bear. He was the only one on the bus. He wore a hood over his head and hugged the bear as if it was his child.
I sat in the front hoping we wouldn't make eye contact. The bus suddenly stopped and I noticed the guy started to walk closer. But then again I was in the front and the doors were right beside me. When the doors opened I saw two cats on the opposite side of the bus, one white and one black. They were just standing there and I completely forgot about the man for a second.
He came closer and closer, slowly as if he was hurt or something. He stopped right before he got out.
"See you later Neoma…" Said a deep mysterious voice.
I was so scared, the man's mouth did not open and the fact that this man, whom I do not recognize or know, Simply said my name as we were close.
The man walked off the bus and soonly after the doors closed. And now I was the only one on the bus. I felt chills throughout my body, questioning what the man meant when he stated he would see me later.
I started to feel light headed and thought it was from me being tired. But before I realized it I blacked out.
I woke up to what I thought was no longer after 10 minutes. When I came back to my senses, I heard a click every second. It was weird, but what creeped me out the most was that I was home.
I got out of my bed and walked out and down the stairs. Something definitely felt off. It was cold, and the aura in the room was ominous.
The light in the living room was on. But I thought my parents had to work so I thought it wasn't them. I didn't want to go in, I tried to walk back up the stairs to my room but suddenly someone called my name.
"Neoma? What are you doing, it's almost time to eat dear."
It was my mother… I couldn't fully hear what she said because of the clicking in the air.
"Okay mom, I'll be right there."
"I'll be waiting." She said with a small smile and walked through the entrance to the living room.
I slowly approached that exact entrance, once I could see in, all I saw was my parents sitting at the table. Talking, laughing, smiling… But again something was off.
"Come sit dear!" My mother patted the seat beside her.
I slightly nodded, and again slowly approached the seat.
"Let's dig in," Said my father, with his utensils already in hand.
Sooner or later I saw the food on the table get cold. I sat there and watched the two eat.
"Dear, why aren't you eating?"
"Oh, I'm not hungry. I ate early.."
I sat there and lied to what I believed was my parents.
"Oh come one now, eat a little bit."
My "mother" insisted that I eat some of the apple pie. Shoving it to my face, wanting me to take a bite.
I slightly smiled, knowing my mother would never force something on me.
"I'm okay, thank you…" I tried to stand up, but It seemed as if I couldn't get up. As if something were holding me down. So heavy I couldn't even move a limb.
"Eat…" My mother had an unsettling expression on her face, it sent chills throughout my whole body. "Please have a small bite dear ^^" And suddenly before I knew it the pie was already in my mouth.
I chewed and chewed, pretending to swallow. Suddenly my mother handed me a glass of water to flush down the pie.
At that moment I knew I couldn't pretend any longer. I slightly nodded, not saying a word. Taking the glass from her freezing hands, as if she was a corpse.
Proceeding to drink the liquid, and said my goodbyes, as I excused myself from the table. Slowly walking up the stairs with an uneasy feeling in my stomach.
Once I retreated to my room. There was this loud noise behind the door. I didn't want to look nor did I want to go to sleep.
Sitting up on the bed, with a feeling of nausea, a little dizzy as if I drank alcohol. Passing out again on the bed, still being able to hear but not see.
Footsteps around the room. Knocking on the wall. The clicking every second. I could hear it all. Almost as if someone was right there.
"WaaKe UpP~"
"NeOMaa~"
I was terrified but I couldn't move. I was completely paralyzed. The clicking in my ears suddenly got louder. Then… it stopped.
"Hello Neoma… We meet again-" It sounded like the man's voice from the bus.
"Don't worry, you're simply a pawn in my game, but I won't let something happen to you, just yet."
I wanted to cry, scream, I wanted to run away from this crazy experience.
" Welcome to Kebinku town. Nothing here is what you seem, no one here is even alive. Because you ate the pie, there is no escape."
"Trapped here forever. I shall wake you but there is no point in running."
I slowly gain consciousness, opening my eyes to the same man from the bus.
"Great, now that you're up, I shall go. Enjoy your life, but expect the worst. Make sure to not stay out past 6."
And at that moment he vanished. The door suddenly opened and I could hear my mother calling my name.
Of course I didn't want to go out there, yet I felt my body move on its own.
"NEOMA, ME AND YOU FATHER ARE GOING TO THE STORE. WE'LL BE BACK BY 6."
I was shocked when she said that. I knew something was bound to happen. So when she left I locked the doors and all windows. Being alone in a place you don't even know.
By 5 o'clock I started to feel tired. I almost couldn't keep my eyes open. And before I knew it I was already in the dream world.
"Excuse me miss. Miss Neoma, class is over."
The teacher, standing by my side, trying to wake me. "Oh, I'm sorry. What time is it??"
"It's 5:25. I am leaving now. Get home safely"
"Thank you, you too."
"Wait 5:25!! THE BUS ARRIVES AT 6!!"
I rushed out of the room and to the bus stop. Getting there just in time. "6 o'clock on the dot."
The bus slowly appeared and I went. There was someone on the bus, but I didn't think much of it. The bus stopped, near my house. Both me and the man got off. We walked the opposite ways.
I saw two cats on my way home. One was white and one black.
"Aww so cute." I didn't think to stop since my house was right there. "Bye bye kitties."
Before I stepped past the house's gate, I suddenly felt light headed and everything started to come to me. The man, the cats, the 6 o'clock bus…
I had no time to think, I blacked out and woke up in my room. And then the clicking began…
