[Good question.]
'What do you mean by good question? How the hell did I get here?'
The last thing Mikel could remember was running away from the battlefield. Luckily the [link] stat had reduced significantly to the point where he was in control of his actions.
He had remembered seeing a colossus suddenly appearing on the battlefield. He also remembered it destroying the Beltimian airship a good distance away.
His memories went blank when the colossus entered its second form. Now here he was in the middle of the pink desert.
This was a place he recognized well. After all, it was a mission he and his guild members has to complete here that granted him the chance to earn his legendary armor!
The desert's origin was something that no one knew about. The developers never said anything and everyone guessed that they never bothered to create a story for it.
If there was one thing everyone knew though, was how dangerous it was. The deeper in you went, the more dangerous it became.
The problem here was, Mikel didn't know how deep in he was. Not to mention that the desert was crawling with thousands of creatures influenced by death energy.
He might be composed of death energy as well, but he didn't know if the creatures will view him as a friend or foe.

A quick look at his profile, Mikel could see that his [bone vitality] and [Energy] were back to full. The [link] stat was also just at 1%, but Mikel knew it was like that because he was far away from a conduit.
The one stat point he had left had not been assigned yet. He could either do it now or wait till it was necessary since he knew it could be a life safer just like before.
[That second option is banking on the fact that you have the chance to use the stat point before you die.]
'Good point. I was only lucky last time. I could be killed in a single blow.'
While keeping it till he needed it wasn't a bad option, Mikel was too weak right now. In the future, when he would be able to properly hold his own, he would consider that option.
[Bone flexibility: 20 => 30]
Seeing as his fighting style right now was heavily dependent on his speed and flexibility, increasing this stat was the best option.
'Now that's done, what do I do now?'
His plan to leave the battlefield had yielded a good result. Even better than he had thought, but the problem was that he was not where he expected he would be after he left.
'Don't I have like a minimap or something?'
[No.]
'Then how the hell am I supposed to know my way around?!'
[You've played this game for years, you should have a rough idea.]
'Didn't you say you were supposed to be helping me? You are not being helpful here.'
Although Mikel was having a heated conversation with the system, he stood unmoving in the middle of the desert. If someone was to pass by, which was highly unlikely, they'll be met with an artistic scene of a skeleton standing on pink-colored sands that stretched as far as the eye could see while facing the sun that shone brightly.
[I might be here to help you, but as I'm sure I made clear, not as much as you think.]
Mikel sighed inwardly, 'I know there should be a village north far off the outskirts of the desert but... my sense of direction is shitty. At least point me in the right direction.'
[You're facing it.]
'Thank you.'
With those words, Mikel began to move.
[Going to that village would not be a good idea. You are a skeleton and can't mingle with humans, they'll kill you on sight.]
'Good thing I'm not going there to mingle.'
*****
Moving high above the clouds was a Beltimian grand airship. Around it were hundreds of smaller first and second class airships.
Standing on the top of the grand airship with his arms folded was a man who wore pure golden armor that reflected the sunlight. Strapped to his back to form an X were four swords with golden hilts and sheaths.
His bald head and scruffy white beard added a feel of wisdom to his already powerful aura.
Despite the speed at which the airship moved, the man stood there unmoving and unbothered.
This man was one of the two generals of the Beltimian empire. He was only known on the battlefield as the unbeatable warrior powerhouse; the golden general, Kel'arun Maji!
"Lord Maji?" A voice sounded in Kel'arun's head.
"I see it," Kel'arun responded.
His eyes were fixed on the abomination that the ship was currently headed towards.
It was so big that its head penetrated the clouds. Smoke steadily rose from its pitch-black skin and its red eyes watched as the Beltimian airships approached it.
It was a Colossus in its third form!
Kel'arun had rushed towards the north the moment he had heard about its appearance. This was the biggest threat Beltimus had faced in a while.
No time had to be wasted, this thing had to be destroyed before it made its way to the capital.
The longer it was left to roam freely, the more death energy it would generate and it would not just become stronger, but it would also create more skeletons that'll fight by its side.
On the ground, there were more than a million skeletons that were currently moving with this colossus as the conduit.
Kel'arun knew what needed to be done now. He had to kill this thing, no matter what it took.
He had also heard some disturbing news of a colossus appearing in Getrelk. The silver general would have no choice but to go there to take care of it which would mean that the capital would be unprotected!
Although he wasn't sure of the undead monarch being able to summon another Colossus to attack the capital, it was better to be safe than sorry.
'Don't do anything rash... David,' Kel'arun thought.
Looking at the lifeless eyes of the Colossus, Kel'arun grabbed the hilt of one of his swords.
"I am the protector of peace; the Beltimian guardian. You're threatening that very peace, and like the ones before you... you shall fall!"
