Chereads / Oshi to Oshi / Chapter 36 - Pretend Play

Chapter 36 - Pretend Play

Ahh... Another day inside Yui's house. Today, I find myself in the role of Yui's boyfriend, or should I say "pretend" boyfriend. We're going along with this charade so that her family believes we're in a relationship, even though it's not necessary. Yui insisted on this plan.

Back at the start, when she first asked me to pretend to be her boyfriend, I was nervous and unsure about the whole thing.

Yui looked at me earnestly. "Kousei-kun, I'm really sorry for all the trouble my family caused you. They had no right to drag you into this, but... Can I ask for your favor...?"

Eh? My oshi is asking me for a favor?!

"W-What is it?" I asked, curious about what she could possibly want from me.

Yui then took a deep breath and held my hand with a serious expression. "Kousei-kun... I have a proposal. I... I want you to pretend to be my boyfriend."

.....

"EH!?"

I was taken aback by her request, trying to process what she just said. "Pretend to be your boyfriend? Why?"

She looked down, seemingly embarrassed. "You see, my family is very traditional, and they keep trying to arrange a marriage for me with someone I don't even know. It's all for political reasons and to uphold the family's reputation. But... I don't want that. I want to be with someone I truly care about."

My heart started to race as I understood where this was going. "So, you want me to pretend to be your boyfriend to get them off your back?"

Yui nodded, her cheeks slightly flushed. "Yes, exactly! If they think I already have a boyfriend, they might stop pressuring me about marriage."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The girl I admired for so long was asking me to play her boyfriend. "But won't that be lying to your family?"

She looked up at me, her eyes pleading. "Please, Kousei-kun, I wouldn't ask you if I had any other choice. It's just for a little while until they back off."

"O-Okay..." <--- (He had no other choice since it's his oshi)

And so, here we are, back in the present. The two of us were using a limo to head to school, and it was embarrassingly extravagant.

The driver parked in front of the school gate and got out, opening the car door for us. "Thank you," Yui said as she stepped out first, and I followed suit.

As we get out of the limo, students started whispering and staring at us.

"Who is that?"

"Wait, isn't that Niimi-san?"

"W-What is he doing with Yui!?"

Then, Sakura and Aoi walked up to Yui. "Yo," Sakura greeted with a cheerful smile.

Aoi, on the other hand, looked up at me with her eyes widening in surprise, slightly tilting her head. "Kousei-kun?"

"Y-Yes?" I replied, feeling a little awkward.

"Hm?" Sakura raised an eyebrow, noticing the tension between us.

I turned to Yui, trying to gauge her reaction.

Sakura, being quick-witted as always, clapped her hand once, seemingly figuring something out. "You two are going out, aren't you?" she said with a knowing smile.

Aoi's eyes widened even more, and she blurted out, "EH!?"

Yui blushed and stammered, "I-I mean, it's not what it looks like..."

Sakura grinned mischievously. "Oh, come on! It's written all over your faces! You're practically glowing!"

Aoi looked flustered and glanced between Yui and me. "W-Well, if you two are happy, then I guess it's fine... but you didn't tell us!"

Yui's cheeks turned even redder. "I-It's not like that!"

Sakura nudged Yui with her elbow. "Ooh, look at that blush! You're so cute!"

"How about we explain this to them first?" In that way... This misunderstanding will be clear.

Yui looked at me and nodded rapidly, her cheeks still flushed. I could tell she was feeling just as embarrassed as I was.

And so, we walked together to the classroom and explain the situation.

"Well, you see... Kousei-kun and I are not actually dating," Yui admitted, her cheeks turning pink. "It's all just a pretend play."

"A pretend play? What do you mean?" Aoi asked, tilting her head in confusion.

I took a deep breath and explained, "Yui's family misunderstood our relationship, and they thought that we were dating. To avoid any complications with her family, we decided to pretend to be a couple until the situation is resolved."

Sakura's eyes sparkled with amusement as she caught on. "Ah, I see! So it was all just an act to fool Yui's family!"

"Exactly."

Aoi, who had been silent for a moment, finally spoke up. "I'm glad it's just a pretend play. You two had us worried there for a moment!"

Glad? Why?

"Anyway, I hope you all understand this... And..." I turned to Yui, feeling my cheeks warm up. "This is my first time having... a 'girlfriend,' so please take care of me." I bowed

"E-Eh?! A-Alright... I'll do... my best," Yui stammered, her face turning even redder as she avoided eye contact.

Sakura and Aoi exchanged glances, a mischievous glint in their eyes.

"I have a bad feeling about this," Aoi said with a knowing smile.

"Ehe~ So do I~" Sakura chimed in, her eyes twinkling with amusement.

"Hey, don't tease us too much!"
