MC POV:

When I saw this chapter, I felt a magic pulsing from it. Cautiously, I analyzed for a while before deciding that there were no risks. As I approached, I could see a tube resting on it and as soon as I put my hand on it, a point came out and slightly pierced the skin of my thumb. Surprise made me drop the tube now stained with a bit of my blood.

I could hear the lid of the tube disassemble right after it fell. Once my finger stopped bleeding, I suspiciously picked up the tube and pulled out the contents. A parchment was perfectly preserved unlike everything around us today.

When I read the title of the content, the shock was so strong that my ears started ringing and I felt a slight discomfort forcing me to sit up.

Egan came to stand next to me, his mind is still connected to mine so he knows very well what I just read.

-----

If you were able to open the ward and read that farewell scroll then you must be alive my little Eldar prince.

------

It took me a moment to calm down and the name 'Eldar' echoed several times in my hazy mind half covered with buzzing.

I could feel Egan's joy. He's been advising me to find a new name for a long time, but a name I chose for myself wouldn't have the same value and would sound fake to my own ears.

'So that's your name? Eldar… sounds good, Egan's partner Eldar.'

After swallowing, I put the parchment back at eye level and prepared to read on.

-----

Eldar, prince of the elves, blessed of the dragons and life partner of their prince,

If you read this message, it means that you my bet worked and that I was able to save you and your partner. Please excuse me for my absence. I know there is no greater fault for a mother than abandoning her child, but please find the strength to forgive your mother for not being able to stand by your side and guide you in, I hope, the long path of your life.

Although we did not get along, your father nevertheless gave me access to what I dreamed of the most, a child. Giving life, loving and guiding my child was one of my goals in life. I couldn't fully fulfill this dream, but I would gladly give my life back a thousand times over if my sacrifice gives you a chance of survival.

You will surely become incredible my son, after all you are the son of Selene Amastacia and that of Eragon Yllawynn, child blessed by the king of the dragons and by all those present during the peace treaty. They were so enthusiastic about you that they affiliated you with the son of the greatest king in the history of dragons.

I will take advantage of this last message to ask you to remain humble my son. Even if you become the most beautiful of the elves in view of the eyes you received from this blessing. Even if you become the strongest or excel in some other discipline, learn to remain humble. No one likes pretentious and boastful people. Be strong and inflexible towards yourself and towards your enemies. Be fair, considerate, and loyal to your loved ones. Believe in my experience, there is no greater pain than losing those you love so enjoy their presence as much as you can.

Be careful of the power my son, it's addictive and dangerous, it's the power that destroyed the dragon riders and caused this war, it's because of it that I can't stay by your side.

If I have to shorten you in one sentence my life advice my son, be dignified, humble, strong and take care of the people you love. Grant me this last will and I could rest in peace.

I would like to tell you where you come from and how you ended up alone because no one else can.

Before our war with the dragons, I was one of the most courted elves. Daughter of the chief counselor of the royal family, I was decked out with great beauty and rare martial skill, both as a warrior and as a magician.

When the war with the dragons broke out, I was on the front line to defend our race from the dragons and lost the majority of my loved ones and became the last survivor of my family. The fury over these losses and the relentless battles made me the greatest dragon slayer during this bloody time.

When Prince Eragon Yllawynn raised a dragon and presented himself as a diplomat by proving that we can get along, that we will become better together and that this war was pointless, he divided our race into two camps. It was during this period that we suffered the greatest losses. He was the direct cause of all these deaths, he who divided us and who defended these beasts even as they continued to hunt us.

When he came with some dragons and announced that the dragons were ready to negotiate a peace, our side was furious but we were out of numbers. Most of the elves, too happy to escape the massacres, accepted. Being up against the wall, I decided to challenge Eragon. If I won then he would stop supporting those who killed so many of our people and stop dividing us.

The dragons, impressed by my martial skill and my temperament deemed me worthy of their greatest females and submitted an idea to their diplomat. Being the symbol of the elven resistance and that of the greatest slayer in the minds of the dragons, if I lost the duel I would then become Eragon's companion and our child would then be the first elf officially recognized by the dragons and he would be affiliated with a dragon after the sacred bond they intend to create to end this war without no backtracking possible

If I were to lose, I would become the greatest slayer who ended up submitting to the dragons and giving them her first born. It will be a great blow that will calm the most belligerent dragons and appease their pride.

The risks were enormous but this was perhaps the biggest turning point in this war and I was more than confident of my chances of victory.

Despite the numerical inferiority of my camp following the battles where we now participate alone, Eragon accepted the duel by declaring that the elves had to be united if they wanted to know peace again. Your father was one of my biggest supporters, constantly trying to seduce me, so I want to believe that the idea of dragons seduced him.

Before my people and before the committee of dragoons who accompanied him, the duel which would decide this war took place. As expected, I quickly and logically got the better of him, after all Eragon wasn't a real warrior. He was just a pampered prince who preferred to defend our enemies rather than fight on the battlefields alongside his race. As I was about to finish him, I made the mistake of savoring my victory, savoring his humiliation, and savoring the impact that victory would have in this war.

I took pleasure in my victory and naively thinking that he could not cheat in front of so many witnesses in such an important event, Bid'Daum, his dragon intervened and wounded me with a claw, piercing me from the top of my right shoulder to my left hip. I then had to face a dragon in addition to Eragon while I was seriously injured, I could only defend myself while waiting for an error but the two did not repeat my error and did not underestimated me. They ended up exhausting me and winning this duel.

Furious and humiliated, I accused him again of a traitor and a cheat, he pleaded in ancient language before the people that Bid'Daum was as much a part of himself as magic is a part of us and that they therefore respected the rules of the duel. The majority of our people preferring peace said nothing and when those who wanted to continue the war wanted to intervene, he told me that if I did not respect our agreement, it was not the dragons but I who would exterminate our breed.

Although I hated to admit it, I knew he was right. The vast majority of our people supported him even after such an insidious act. They won't change their minds now and so I had to become the mate of the one I hated the most after those who took my friends and family and I even had to make my first born a related to those cursed dragons.

Over time, I realized that although I abhor Eragon's methods, only peace could have saved us and the dragons when we were so close to mutual extinction.

Your father has become the leader of those who will take the title of dragon riders. With their new power, they gained a lot of influence. They named themselves guarantor of Alagaësia and got involved in everything.

Once the order was in place, your father stepped down as leader of the dragon riders to honor his word to the dragons and give me a child. He thought I would understand and forgive him once I saw the benefits of our alliance. However, I have never been able to forgive him for his cowardice and those actions that made me lose so many of my people. He had to put up with the hatred that I had for him every day. I couldn't bear his touch and my hatred towards him increased.

When I got pregnant he couldn't take the hate I had for him anymore so he decided to leave with his dragon to find another purpose in his life now that the peace is back and he's honored his word.

You were then born a few years before the War of the Dragon Riders began.

As I told you my son, power corrupts people and their caste was shattered under the rule of Vrael by a rebellion of those who felt they did not have enough power within their own caste. So we had to experience a new war caused by the dragon riders. They set landscapes to fire and blood and they made many collateral victims

The purist Riders of caste traditions faced the rebels but lost to those gathered around a human Rider. Seeing their defeat coming, they decided to cast a spell on Vroengard , seat of the riders in order to save the future of the dragons and the legacy of the riders. Dragon riders know who I am and what you represent, they have decided to hunt you to avoid any future dangers.

This is when my sacrifice comes, I decided to copy the spell of the dragon riders to make the world forget our existence and allow you to grow as you wish. I don't possess the strength of the old dragon riders, let alone many of them. With the help of one of the few friends I had left, we had to offer our lives to hope to succeed the spell.

Having the experience of war, I do not want this life for you but it will be up to you to decide whether you want to grow up in peace with your people or take the path of the warrior in order to protect the heritage of your father.

This is your Eldar story. Know my son, that I love you like no one could ever love you. My heart and my spirit will accompany you until the day when you will join me, in the meantime enjoy the life that I have managed to offer you.

May luck be with you, may peace reign over your heart and may the stars watch over you
