Chapter 6 - Hunting feast

When I wake up again...

I feel really bad, half comatose, using magic in my tired and hungry state might not have been the best idea but I couldn't lose my little dragon anyway, I was anyway obligated way to do it.

I'm covered in sweat it's dark and I feel something warm on my side, my little dragon seems to have snuggled up to me to keep me warm.

I don't feel any emotion coming from him, he must be sleeping. I try to move a little, my position is very uncomfortable, my movement immediately woke up the dragon, he is now looking at me with two big amber eyes.

I can feel his relief and his fear, which reassures me and makes me smile, so he's worried about me... I must say that I just saved his life.

In response he purrs against my side and rubs his head against me. I no longer feel his hunger, so he must have eaten the feline. His only discomfort is the fear he seems to feel seeing my condition.

"You really had to hunt a panther twice your size, didn't you?" A big dragon like you couldn't be satisfied with a doe… So you were so hungry pretty little mouse? Realizing what I just said, I dread the bite but he surprises me and doesn't even growl, even though he has stopped purring.

He sends me back the image of what he lived, he followed tracks which resemble those of a rabbit but he was not alone for a long time. A panther saw him and she must have thought he would make a better meal than the rabbit before chasing him.

I remain for a moment bewildered by what has just happened, he passed on his memories to me! I could see them as clearly as if I had experienced the scene.

How ironic! I am unable to explore anything in my memory and he transmits his to me in my head...

I sigh, we really need to be more careful, I'm too weak to stand up and my dragon, as scary and dangerous as its race is, remains only an infant.

My stomach rumbles so hard that the contraction makes me wince in pain. The dragon moves and I look after it, turning my head, there are remains of the panther right next to us. He seems to have left me some or he couldn't eat a beast bigger than him in one meal.

This thought warms my heart and the other hypothesis just makes me laugh, I can't help but imagine my little mouse round like a ball, wider than tall, like the stomach on a leg that it seems to be!

My humor doesn't seem to my dragon's liking, who starts to growl again at the mental image that I seem to have shared with him quite involuntarily, his annoyance hits me and I do my best to stop chuckling.

Once calmed down, he brings me a piece of meat and puts it on my chest, the blood pours on my clothes and this time I don't wince in pain but in disgust, I don't know why but the idea of eating this meat disgusts me.

The force of annoyance sent to me by the dragon is no less strong than my hunger, which reminds me. These two emotions push me to ignore my disgust and grab the piece of meat.

Moving my arm makes me tremble, this simple observation reinforces my conviction to eat everything I can to regain strength.

Closing my eyes, nausea at the edge of my lips, I chew the piece of meat he gave me for a moment so that I can swallow it without choking and even if it is not really delicious, the taste does not seem to explain the disgust I feel at the idea of eating this meat.

I barely finished my piece when my dragon brought me a new one, I complied without discussion and ate what he brought me several times.

He started offering me meat again before I even finished chewing the previous one. Again and again until my stomach was so tense it was becoming uncomfortable.

"If you give me one more piece of meat, I'll either vomit or explode." Thank you for sharing your game with me but I need to sleep now, tomorrow morning we'll fetch water and try to explore a bit. »

I could feel a sense of pride emanating from him at the mention of his game but it only lasted a moment before feelings of anger and shame were transmitted to me.

"Don't blame yourself little mouse, you were just born, even a dragon needs time to grow and become strong." If you hadn't run away from the fight, the panther would be eating your corpse right now and I'd be alone again. »

"You are a dragon! There will come a day when you will make anyone stupid enough to draw your wrath tremble. »

"In the meantime we must survive and become stronger!" Today we hunted our first game together and soon it will be me who will be useless in the role of the hunter when we look for something to eat.

A purr answered me before I closed my eyes and once he resumed his place glued to my side I fell asleep under the lullaby of his purr with a smile on my face.
